When your attire consists of dress, shoes, veil, hair comb and jewlery, how do you make sure everything looks nice together? I can bring my veil to a hair comb store and bring my shoes to the dress store but I really can’t get everything together in one store without buying the items so I am afraid to buy anything especially since some places have restrictions on return policies (i.e. store credit only or final sale). I don’t want to put it all together at my final fitting or on my wedding day and say ugh!

Strangely, I hadn’t really thought too hard about that. I just kind of bought stuff I liked and made sure the colors were the same. So my ivory dress and ivory veil and ivory chiffon flower. Otherwise, it was just what I liked or what I wanted to make. My shoes were blue, so they were going to stand out no matter what. I think you’ll be ok so long as the colors go together. But definitely bring what you can to the stores with you when you can. I did have to exchange a bra because I figured out on my first fitting that my original bra wouldn’t work.

I agree with HotWings – it just happens! Maybe it would help to have a fabric swatch from your dress? If you are having alterations and anything isbeing taken in you can ask the tailor to save a swatch for you so you can bring it to try on other things. I just remembered the color of my dress and then first looked for shoes. I ordered my shoes from Zappos.com and when they came I knew they matched my dress and then brought them to my fitting and they matched! If they didnt then I would have returned them. After my shoes I ordered the veil from wedding-veil.com and they had a good return policy too. But I ordered the veil in ivory and it matched as well – remember that subtle differences between ivory and offwhites are not really noticeable. After my veil and shoes I looked for jewelry. Jewlery is easy because the same things that go with ivory go with white unless you are talking about pearls of different colors. Then I looked for a hair flower in ivory and again, it may not have matched perfectly when you put them right next to each other, but it doesnt really matter. Try not to think too hard about it! Like Hotwings said, just buy what you like and try to stay within a range of the same color.
