i like the museum idea! does it have a coffee shop too? if you go that route, you should make sure your photographer can shoot there.

I think library pictures are really cute!  You could always duck in there as well.

rainy weather often does wonders to what could be a typical mundane photo.  you may want to use it to your advantage.  matching umbrella and/or raincoat would be uber cute.
i was once shooting an engagement outdoors and it just started pouring, i mean just massive downpour.  the bride and her fiancee were running for cover and they were giggling like kids, and i captured these on photo and these were the couple’s favorites because the expression on their faces were so genuine.

otherwise just remember to check with the library/museum if they allow photography.  they might not allow professional cameras.

What does your photographer say?  I think outdoor images will come out better than indoors ones for engagement photos.  Is rescheduling an option if it rains?

I would reschedule asap if that is possible.  It’s nice to have updated photos of yourself, esp to show guests that have not seen you in a while.  You can still get them done most likely before invites go out and maybe include a link to your wedding website where you can post the images for people to see.  You can also make a photoguest book, etc all kinds of things…..

It’s also nice to work with the photographer once before the wedding to get a feel for each other and increase your comfort factor in front of the camera.

If you’re shooting in a museum/any business you need to call and get permission. Some venues charge for portrait use. Our local museum charges $150

What about taking them in a covered outdoor space? Think of businesses (restaurants?) that have nice or interesting porches.
