Fiancé and I did a food tasting with our cateror and chose a potential menu today. At this point we basically just chose what we liked most and we’ll tweak it later if we need to. It’s a fall wedding in a barn on an apple orchard so we didn’t want anything too fancy. We ended up with apps being: BBQ pork potato skins, veggies and dip, and cocktail sausages. Dinner will be Rosemary pork tenderloin, fried chicken, bacon scalloped potatoes, green bean casserole, tossed salad, and rolls. Like I said we just chose what we liked the best out of what we tried so I’m trying to decide if that all goes together okay. Thoughts?
Edit: I completely forgot we will also be having Rosemary red potatoes! So that would be an option for guests as well

My only thought is if you have any guests who don’t eat pork, they’re going to have very limited choices.

heyoh : I just realized how unhealthy this menu is hahah Wedding day is a given diet cheat day, right? lmao
JiminyCricket : I didn’t even think about that! Maybe I’ll change one of the apps to something without pork or a nonmeat option

I don’t eat pork so that limits my choices quite a bit. I wouldn’t starve but a little more variety would be nice. Unless the sausages are turkey or beef, in that case its not too bad but I’m assuming those are pork also. Love potatoes so would be slightly bummed about seeing pork in those. But if you know majority of your guests would like this menu its fine. 🙂

I think it sounds good! I think it is a good idea to pick what you like – you should enjoy the food on your big day! We had several vegetarians attend our wedding so we also had a vegetarian option to make sure they had enough to eat as well!

My only suggestion would be to avoid bacon on the potatoes. Everything sounds awesome (we have a very similar menu) but a lot of people don’t like pork so that would limit them.

I think it sounds delicious, but you should probably have a vegetarian option just in case.

If you can do the potatoes without bacon that would be a great idea. No reason to take a perfectly good vegetarian side and put bacon on it, especially since there is already so much pork (and a lot of people do not like pork).

You know your crowd. The very pig-meat centric menu (pork, sausage, pork, bacon) jumped out at me first. But the other thing is that it’s a very very heavy menu. You have salad, but otherwise everything is casserole or creamy or fried. I’m sure it’s delicious, and yeah, joking about calories not counting for you, but I’d probably pick at this because I get serious indigestion from food this heavy — nevermind being able to dance later. Maybe add a side dish/veggie that’s not loaded in butter and cream, not just a vegetarian option but just regular veggies.

Another ‘too much pork’ vote. I’d say a different app vs BBQ pork potato skins and sausages, and eliminate the bacon from scalloped taters.

soon2bemrs10142017 : Thanks for the feedback so far! Will definitely be switching some of the pork options out and probably choosing atleast one lighter option. I didn’t realize how much pork we had chosen lol Also, forgot to mention we have Rosemary red potatoes on the menu as well so that would be another option for guests

soon2bemrs10142017 : I also noticed a lot of pork, but there’s a chicken option and I’m sure you’ll know if vegetarianism is an issue. I just want to say that this menu seriously needs some mac and cheese added in and you’re golden.

skunktastic : Yeah since you have the red potatoes, I’d skip the scalloped potatoes and do a mac n cheese. I absolutely LOVE pork though so everything else sounds amazing. Maybe do a saland too for a lighter fare.
