I think redenvelope.com might do personalized collar stays? I’d worry about permanent marker rubbing off or showing through the shirt material.

Hmmm… Do you have a scrapbooking store or anything like that near you? We have an Archiver’s and they allow you to use their tools for a small fee. I think you could emboss something on them using one of those little squeezy embossing tools. OR maybe you could use a fine point silver permanent marker so they wouldn’t show through? I love your idea so I’m racking my brain for a good solution! ๐Ÿ™‚

Sharpie makes a marker that is made to be used on cloth that goes through the wash without bleeding.  Not sure how it’d be on other materials though.  It might be worth a test run.  And as far as it showing through the shirt, just make sure he puts the writing facing the side that no one will see?  I’ve seen these markers at walmart and target, fyi. ๐Ÿ™‚
