Mine is 1.4. I actually used the HCA to narrow down diamonds when we were looking. The jeweler had its inventory complete with GIA certs online, so while it took some time I was glad to be able to do it ahead of time!

Note to other bees: the HCA only works with round brilliant diamonds! If you have another shape it won’t work. This might save people some time. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m commenting so I can find this again later when I get home and have my GIA report with all the specs to do this. I’m dying to know now!

Neat. I actually have 2 grading systmes on mine, AGS and GIA.

So I punched both in, just to see what the results were. The AGS grading system rounded the numbers more so than anything and so I got a .5 the first time. So then I punched in the GIA, and I got 1.1. it just goes to show that the GIA does have higher standards. I’m happy with my score either way though!

Hello bees. I tried to put all the info from the GIA report however theres a couple info not stated  in my report. i.e. I cant find it from the report. Its the crown and pavilion angle. I tried to look up my certs online from GIA website, and it wasnt stated there either. Do you bees know where should I find this info? Thank you!!

I never heard of this when we were ring shopping!

Yikes, mine only got a 2.9 (very good) when I entered in crown and pavillion % and even worse, 4.3 (good) if I entered crown and pavillion angle. Why the same diamond would rate differently, using specs from the same certificate, makes little sense.

My diamond is GIA rated “Excellent” for cut, polish, and symmetry…

@smiles731: Oh don’t stop! We went looking at rings in April! Message boards definitely kept me distracted/sane during the intervening 8 months. ๐Ÿ™‚

@ay_rad: I believe GIA reports from before 2005-ish do not have angles listed. ๐Ÿ™

@78h2o: Angles are more accurate, when they do the % there is some rounding off, so that’s why you are getting different results. There is a more detailed explanation on the HCA page under “Angles vs. Percent for Crown and Pavilion”

Mine scored a .9. This is so cool! I wasn’t sure about the total depth though, not sure if I found the right number on my GIA report.
