@Irish Terrier:  Same for me as well. Although my mothers setting was much lower then mine and I think the caret weight is smaller. My parents where very young and had just graduated college when they got married. She dosn’t ever wear her own anymore. She had my grandmothers larger stone reset into a low setting on a thick gold band, and her eteriny band on her right hand that my father gave her when she was pregnant with me.

My older sister’s e-ring and mine are simliar. Except her’s has side stones and mine dosn’t. But both sliver. My ring below.

It’s amazing how different and unique they all are! Our grandmothers rings all tend to be yellow or rose gold with ornate settings. My grandmothers is very similar to yours. Interesting how trends change!

My mothers engagement ring is a cluster ring with 2 ct. of brilliant cut diamonds and a very wide band (~4mm?) in yellow gold. The diamonds are so close together they look like one HUGE really sparkly diamond. When i went looking for engagement rings, i found myself looking for really wide bands as well. I didnt realize it though until we had ordered it. My ring is a plain 1 ct. solitare on a 3.5mm wide band in white gold. So they look very similar, but different at the same time. I feel like it is my own way of having her ring. I have a plain wedding band like hers as well.

My Mother did not have an e-ring for either marriage. She only wore a yellow gold band both times. I have a 1.02ct princess solitaire and 2 -.75ct semi eternity diamond bands as a w-ring and a-band

Before my mother passed away, she chose for me to inherit her wedding/ engagement  ring (my sis got her sweet 16 ring, and my dad – the 25yr eternity band). The ring is completely unique as my dad designed the rings specifically for her, so it’s a lovely reminder of the both of them, and the amazing love that they shared.

For those reasons, I chose to use my mother’s ring as an engagement ring, and will be getting an eternity band when my man and I get around to that. Smile

Great Grandmothers: 1.5 Carat, Color: D, Clarity: Flawless, Round Brilliant cut Diamond Solitare, set in Platinum. Band was 14K gold diamond eternity band.

Grandma: Diamond Cluster Ring set in 14K Gold (no idea the grade of the diamonds)

Moms: 1.5 Carat, Color: D, Clarity: Flawless, Round Brilliant cut Diamond Solitare, set in Platinum (obviously it was inherited from great grandma) My dad gave her a guard for it that the soltaitre just slips in, for their wedding as a sort of wedding band. It was 14K gold that looks like leaves sort of snaking around with diamonds on every one. That made it bigger and the ring in its entirety went from knuckle to knuckle.

ME: 2.25 Carat GARNET set in 14K Gold, with a diamond Halo, and Pave diamonds down the sides. Wedding band: 2mm 14K Gold band.

How’s this for similar?  My e-ring is on the left and my mom’s is on the right.  I had mine custom made but didn’t plan this at all. 🙂  Pictures resized for your viewing pleasure, haha.

When my dad saw my e-ring the first time, he said it looked like my mom’s.  But really, other than having the same shaped center stone, our rings aren’t that much alike.  Our wedding bands don’t look anything alike.

This similar to what my mom’s ring looks like. Her stone is narrower than the one int he picture:

This is what mine looks like:

Nothing alike! I chose that though…

Mother-Goose had a beautiful ring from my dad, but him and I are NOT CLOSE. He treated my mom like shit, so I wanted the polar opposite of anything that reminded me of my mom’s marriage to my dad.

My mom’s ring is an emerald cut diamond with 2 baguettes, similar to this one:

Hers is in platinum and has a total carat weight of 2.1 ct.

Her wedding band band is a plain white gold band.

My engagement ring is a violet sapphire with a channel set diamond band in 18k white gold. Mine looks like this:

It is a total of 1.05 ct.

My wedding band is all diamonds and looks like this:

@mylittleviolett:  Your mom’s looks like my mom’s ring!  My mom’s ring doesn’t have side baguettes though, but most people think it does because of the way the gold is formed on the sides.

@Loribeth:  lol I know! Right when I was about to post the pictures I saw your post and I was like, what a coincidence! Is your mom’s a similar ct weight? Like around 2 ct?

My mom had something like a .2 carat round in yellow gold with a plain band. I have a 1.01 carat cushion in white gold with a pave band.

Actually, now my mom wears a plain sterling silver band on her ring finger, and my grandmother’s 1.5ish carat OEC on her right hand (looove that ring).

@blueandcream:  Indeed!  I actually would have LOVED to have gotten my grandmother’s rings, but my mom told me that Darling Husband could “buy you your own damn diamonds”…!   Considering the ring Darling Husband got me is all sapphire, I think it’s funny now…and my mom did let me wear Grandma’s rings on my right hand on my wedding day.
