When I’m on the verge of having a minor hissy fit over some wedding issue and begin getting crabby, my fiance always says, “Wedding’s cancelled,” and it always makes me laugh and realize how stupid I sound. Basically, it’s just an equally dramatic reaction as whatever reaction I’m having at the moment is and it puts things in perspective for me. Last week I sent him an email while he was at work wigging over a snag:
Me: SHE BOOKED A WEDDING IN OHIO, WTF AM I GOING TO DOOOOO.
Him: We’ll find someone else.
Me: Not as good as her for as cheap as she was!
Him: Wedding’s cancelled.
It usually sets me straight and I knock it off, so I’m just wondering what yall’s fiances do to straighten you out when you get a little tightly strung over wedding stuff.

My husband really does keep me sane. When I stress about about whatever (and it’s often!), he will stop whatever he is doing and say, “Did you forget you have a husband now? I will take care of it.” And he does.

My fiance keeps me sane MOST DEFINITELY!—When I get crazy about anything, he takes it upon himself to be my personal superhero. He swoops in, handles the situation, smiles…and then says everything will be fine. It doesn’t hurt to get foot rubs and massages when things are EXTRA hectic. He may have NO clue when it comes to the wedding details, but he always does what he can to make sure that I am never overwhelmed… He says,”If it makes you feel any better, I can do all the wedding day girly stuff for you…. but you better not tell anyone—it”ll mess up my tough guy image.” 🙂

@Neva: That is adorable! I feel like I need to “accidentally” send my FH the link to this thread and “casually” highlight your post in particular… 😉

He keeps things in perspective and everything, but the main thing is hugs. He gives these awesome bear hugs, and when I’m freaking out, he’ll just take stuff out of my hands, pull me to him, and wrap his arms around me. It’s bizarre how much it helps, but after like twenty seconds, I feel so much calmer. He’s the best.
