I wouldn’t sweat it.  We know that people have been talking to our parents about gifts for us, but so far not too much has happened on the registry.  We just got our first, and so far only, gift off our registry from my former priest who now lives in the UK.  He can’t make it to the wedding, but he ordered it online and had it sent to our “home” store.  The stores do have their own agenda, afterall.

@aggie2010:  I have had 4 of 40 people buy things for my shower (i think) and the shower invites went out a week ago. I also have had a few Christmas presents off my registry (a great China sale). I have been told people buy 1-3 weeks before the event, so you are fine!

We’ve had several things purchased by Future Father-In-Law as Christmas gifts, and several things purchased by Future Mother-In-Law, as, I assume, wedding gifts. They started buying last fall or something? Other than that, nothing yet.

This was a great post! I was wondering the same thing. I seem to be addicted to checking my registries, which is probably bad because I do want to be surprised at my shower! I’m just curious. Plus, Fiance and I worked really hard on our registries so I guess I just want to see what happens. But my shower is in July soooo… I have plenty of time. Still, so excited!

My FI’s family is from the east coast and we are in California So we are having a duo shower. My family in person on his via Skype at the end of this month. Things just started flying off the registry even though there is a little over three weeks till the shower but that is all from his family since the know everything has to be shipped. I’m pretty sure no one has bought anything yet that is local. I think it’s perfectly normal!

My shower is in 10 days. A bunch of people have bought stuff of one registry, but the other one (smaller one) has gone untouched. The larger one is Amazon, which requires shipping… so I’m guessing those who are buying registry gifts are through with that. They’d have to have done that by now, yeah?

I think you’ve still got time, especially if you’re registered somewhere where there’s an actual store to go to.

How did you spread your registry info? Website, word of mouth, etc?

We had a few people buy something the week of the shower so far. I havent checked since then but I doubt there have been any purchases. We are having a tiny wedding so I dont expect many purchases anyways.

Wedding is in September and I just logged onto the registry two weeks ago to find that someone had bought several items off of it. I thought it was a little early, but still exciting ๐Ÿ™‚ Even my Maid/Matron of Honor didn’t know where we were registered at the time!

People (okay, just one person) started just recently, so 4 months in advance, although we’ve had the website up and save the dates out for about 4 months at this point.

I wouldn’t worry too much about people not buying anything close to your date — maybe they are planning to give you money!!  Or maybe they bought off registry.  Or maybe they’re just very last minute ๐Ÿ™‚

Soooo… I usually buy the gift the day before or on my way to the shower. So, personally, I wouldn’t sweat it.

My wedding is in 3 months, I have a small shower in a week, and a larger shower in 2 months. Exactly 1 person has purchased a gift.

I personally buy last minute every time, so I can only assume I’m not alone! ๐Ÿ™‚

Just to throw this out there….when I went to my shower, there were only 5 things bought off my registry. When I got to my shower (about 3 months prior to my wedding), I was overwhlemed with gifts, and MANY of them were from my registry, but people did not mention it to the sales people when they bought the gifts, and therefore, after the shower, I had to go back online and delete items that I did receive. Also, I received many gifts not on my registry.
