I shopped about 15 months before the wedding, and it took about three months for the dress to come in. Honestly, I wish I would have waited a few months before I started dress shopping, though.

I started dress shopping about a year out. Was engaged Christmas 09, started shopping Jan. 10. It took about 2.5 months for my dress to come in, but I was told that I should expect it to take 4 months.

I started dress hunting soon after my engagement, but I took my time & didn’t buy right away. Because I waited, styles I liked started appearing on Craigslist and other online outlets at a fraction of the cost (and a lot were NWT). And it was a lot faster arrival time because it was coming directly from the seller. Just an idea! 🙂

I was engaged in Feb 09′, but didn’t look/buy until September 09′ (the 1 year mark). I wouldn’t suggest going TOO early, because new styles do come out & it leaves more room for dress regrets.

Oh-and I was able to take mine home that same day.

I was the same as amanda.lynn.  I had my dress in my hands over a year before the wedding, wish I had waited though.  It took only about 3 months for my dress to come in.

Too early. We discussed and agreed that the engagement would be long (3 years), and the first half a year i had ring shopping to keep me distracted. Then I jumped into dress shopping right away.

Sample sales happen at least 2 times a year per salon and some almost 4, also there were tons of bargain used dresses. Designers have spring and fall collections, new trends all the time. My prefference would easily sway by all these beautiful dresses.

If I could do it again I would wait until I had 8 month left till the wedding. Wedding gowns take 5 months to order (at max) and I’m so indecisive that 3 months would have been perfect. Not enough time for doubting or second thoughts.

I started shopping a year before the wedding and ordered my dress within a week of shopping. The dress was ordered at the end of August and arrived mid-December.
