We were running late due to the BMs getting their makeup done (we couldnt get the MUA to come to the venue). We were supposed to have been at the venue which is 45 mins away at 4pm. We finished makeup around 4pm and didn’t get to the venue till almost 5pm which was too late at that point for bridal portraits and shots with the bridesmaids and my parents. So we just took some getting ready photos and hung out till the ceremony started at 6pm.

2 minutes prior?

We got married on the grounds of the lodge where we were staying at so it was walking distance to the ceremony spot.  We just walked to our first look location, then right into the cermeony.  Very efficient!

@Groominator:  My ceremony was at 1:00 pm. I was told to arrive at 12:50, and my husband arrived about 12:20pm.  He greeted our guests and visited with them a while (not a church wedding) until I texted him as we were close, then he was hidden away and given a “stiffner”. We arrived, were hidden away in our waiting spot, and also given some wine while we wiated for our cue.

@Groominator:  We are staying in a suite at our venue (a beautiful inn). I intend to walk over to the ceremony site exactly on time. I do believe in being early/on time but not in wasting time. I’m not sitting around for an hour and doing nothing when I could be, I don’t know, having some wine.

@Groominator:  we’re actually getting to our venue two and a half hours before the ceremony actually starts. here’s what we’re doing with the time:

2:45: Venue arrival

2:45-3:15: Getting ready/getting dressed photos

3:15-4:30: Separate photos of bride with her family, bride with bridesmaids, bride with groomsmen, groom with family, groom with groomsmen, groom with bridesmaids

4:30-5:00: Separate bride portraits, groom portraits

5:00-5:15: Photographers do detail photos, bride, groom, bridesmaids and groomsmen retire to bridal/grooms suites for touch ups, drinks, snacks, relax.

5:30: ceremony start

(We are not doing a first look, so this time was critical)

I got to the ceremony site, which was on the beach at the resort I was staying at, right on time. I mean, the ceremony began as I walked down the aisle, haha. But Darling Husband was so cute, he was worried people would be disturbing and loud near our wedding site, so he got there an hour and a half before the start to monitor the wedding area and make sure everyone stayed away.

@Groominator:  We did all our family pictures at the church. I planned an hour and a half for that, but we were so burnt out after 45 minutes we just all sat down and waited. The photog still did some guest pics and other stuff, but we got to relax. We would have been there regardless, but we didn’t need to be there until 15 minutes before aisle time.

I was told by the church to be there by 345, ceremony starts at 5.  They said so we can get dressed do some pictures and relax for a few(if thats even possible, lol).  They told Fiance to be there by 430 at the latest, but he is planning to be there by 415 for a few pictures with him and his guys. No first look for us.  So we will see how this all works out in 11 days!!!

Honestly I think the church picks a farther out time then when you should actually be there that way if your running behind you still have a bit of a cushion.  🙂
