So today I went into a consignment shop in a little town near me with my mom. Now I’ve been engaged since January and was just planning on trying on dresses just to see which style I liked (we were able to take pictures and choose our own, hence why we went to a consignment shop.)
Weelll, I found a dress. It’s Allure 8373, still in tags, never been worn, for $300!! I was ecstatic, because this is my ultimate dream dress and fits the vision for our wedding so well.
That being said, the wedding is April 13,2013. I know its still quite a ways off (year and 6~ months) but I feel that I can’t let this dress go! It’s currently on hold at the shop, and I have until Saturday to either pick it up or let it go. Is this too early to be buying a dress?
As for the fit, it fits like a glove. Maybe a little too snug around the chest, but some arm workouts and such should take care of that I’m hoping. Here’s some pictures for you all.
Sorry for the corny Picnik stickers..I don’t have photoshop!
And I apologize for the huge size..I have no idea how to make them smaller!
Thanks for your input ladies 🙂

First I have to say that dress is gorgeous and you look stunning in it. I also want to say that if you think its the one and that you won’t change your mind or change shape too much, go for it. I bought my dress in May 2010 for a September 2011 wedding (and we hadn’t even set the date at that point!). I bought mine so early because it was the only time I could shop with my mom, and I also knew the one I picked was it. Part of the trick is you stop looking. No scouring the internet for dress pictures or second guessing. Anyway, I don’t think it’s too early at all as long as you’re sure. People told me I bought mine too early, but I don’t regret my choice for a second.

First off: Beautiful dress! It looks great on you! Now to answer your question, “How early is too early?”, I think everyone is different, but I know for myself, that would be too early. I am half way through a two year engagement and I found a dress that I absolutely loved (at a good price) just a couple months after getting engaged. I thought long and hard about it and decided not to get it (because it was so far away from my wedding date). I am so glad I didn’t buy it. I have changed my mind so many times about what style, fabric, length, etc. that I want, and that original dress is nothing like what I would picture myself in now.
That being said, everyone is different. I am extremely indecisive and have to change my mind a thousand times before making a final decision. If you know what your vision for your wedding is, and know that the dress will definitely fit well within that vision (and you’re not going to change your mind), I would say go for it. $300 for a beautiful dress like that is definitely a steal.

Wow amazing dress for an amazing price! I got my dress in March for my wedding June of next year… That was a year and 3 months and I was just glad to have such a big thing out of the way =D

I agree thati its up to you. I bought my dress after going to two stores. It was the first dress I tried in the second store. I bought it in August 2010 and my wedding is coming up in December 2011, so it was over a year in advance. I, however, know that I am very intuitive and once I know something is what I want, I dont change my mind. If you are generally indecisive or change your mind alot I would wait. You can get all the info for the dress, and even if that store doesn’t have it later when you decide you still beleive it is the “one” then you can get it somewhere else. However, as a bride who only tried on a few dresses, I ahve never regretted my decision and cant wait to wear mine! good luck!

I started dress shopping about a year and 6 months out from out date, but I’m glad I didn’t buy anything. After seeing more dresses and styles I’ve changed my mind so much and I still don’t know what I want. Also, I tend change weight and where the weight is distributed fairly easily, so for me personally I’d be terrified of it not fitting later, especially if it’s already snug.
That said, that’s a beautiful dress, looks great on you, and such a good deal! If you don’t change weights often and are sure you can maintain what you are now, and have looked at enough styles to know what you want, go for it. I personally couldn’t have, but that doesn’t mean it won’t work for you 🙂

I would get it and my reasons why:
- You love it and they may discontinue it.
- It is an amazing price.
- You can always attempt to resell it.
- You look like a princess in it.

Thanks guys! Yeah, my weight is pretty consistent, I just wish there were a way to make boobs smaller without surgery, haha. I’m leaning towards buying it. Like @HappilyEverAfter54

For the $300 I’d buy it. You can always resell it if you change your mind.
