- Wedding: September 2014 - White Point Garden, Charleston, SC
I just recently got my engagement ring (but we’ve been engaged awhile now) and we’re shooting for a late September wedding. How early is too early to buy bands? I’ve already started looking but don’t want to jump the gun.

@S.Elizabeth.G: We’re 3 weeks away and Fiance just got his!
I bought mine about 3 months before the wedding date

My Fiance bought mine at the same time he bought my ering. I bought his right away too. I’m not sure if it’s a good thing to get them right away because I really want to wear it already. The temptation is so bad!

I bought mine last week (a little less than 2 months to the wedding) and we bought FI’s probably 2 months ago, so 4 months before.
If you decide you want something custom made keep in mind it takes 6-8 weeks sometimes. My wedding bands aren’t “custom” but they are being made just for me; one is estimated to take 3 weeks and the other 2 weeks.

Well we literally bought my ring and both our bands on the same day! I don’t think there is such a thing as too early. If you find the one you like, lock it down! Just like your fiance 🙂

@S.Elizabeth.G: The wedding is March 15, and we bought my band in November and his band in December.

@S.Elizabeth.G: we got our rings about 17 months early! We went browsing at jewelery shops for fun, and I found the perfect ring. I didn’t want to risk it not being available when it got closer to the wedding, so we bought it! (and my FI’s) It’s nice because now we’ve already paid for the rings and we don’t have to spend all that money when it’s closer to the wedding…unfortunately my gorgeous band is sitting around in my apartment taunting me! lol

I can’t imagine there being a ‘too early.’ It’s not like they go bad.

We have been engaged for almost 2 yrs and are getting married in 5 months. From my experience, all the wedding costs seem to start stacking up during the last few months so if you could find your bands earlier and spread out the cost, it’s a great idea!

We just got ours, with about 3 months to go.
But as Duncan said, they dont go bad, so I dont see how it could be too early.

We purchased his three months prior to the wedding since it was coming from Australia (we’re in the US). We purchased mine about a month prior to the wedding because I kept hemming and hawing over whether or not I wanted the expensive matching band to my engagement ring but I finally decided to go with the cheap band (it was still 18k gold but significantly cheaper than the matching band).
I feel like 3-6 months prior is good depending on whether or not you’re planning on losing weight, changing your mind about ring style, whether it needs to be customized, and have thoroughly researched prices with different vendors.

We bought ours about 5 months before the wedding. It took time to get the rings custom made, so I don’t think we received the rings until 2 months before the wedding.

We got married in September, I bought ours in February.

We are getting married in August and have found our bands, but are going to put a deposit on them next month. So that will be about 6 months early, but we are going to layby the rings so that we don’t bring them home until 2 months prior to the wedding. We decided to make a budget schedule so we pay off things little by little each month, so laybying 6 months early just works for us 🙂

Our wedding is over a year away and we already have ours. I want to get as much done as early as possible.
