6 months is what is on every checklist. Check out cheapcaribbean.com my Fiance went to Puerto Rico this past February for $3400 for the week all inclusive.  They have really good deals. I was cautious at first but it ended being a great experience. Plus you can pay half when you book and half 30 days prior to leaving which helps with the wedding budget stuff. Friends of ours went to the Dominican off that site as well. Good luck!

I would book ASAP. I put off booking ours and it cost me an extra $1500. Ouch. Learn from my mistake please!

We booked ours 8 months out because there were amazing early booking discounts. We saved over $3000 by doing this, so I definitely recommend at least looking into it now.

p.s. we just booked it, and we were told most of the rates go up mid october, just a heads up.

@summerbride12: I second that!  I’ve always been told that if you plan on booking anything, to do so in late summer/early fall.

Do you have AAA?  I get really great discounts on hotels/resorts/airfare because of my membership.  Even if you don’t have it now, it’s like $60 a year, so it could save you more than that if you got a 10-15% discount somewhere.  I highly recommend it!

We booked ours a few months ago. I can’t remember exactly but I think it was like 3-4 months before. We waited too long and ended up paying more because we had to get a more expensive room (which is nice don’t get me wrong but we might have been able to stay an extra night) and fly out of an airport that is out of our way because flights were all booked.  If we booked earlier we would have had more rooms to choose from and could have flown out of BWI or Philly (1 hr away) instead of JFK which is like 3.

We booked ours about 9 months out. We booked our flights later at about 4 months out. The price of the flight and honeymoon went up a few hundred dollars since we first began looking.
