@AirForceWife78:  Well, if I was still having my big wedding, I would send the Save-The-Date Cards out probably the beginning of May.  The invitations would have been sent out at the end of July/beginning of August.

ETA: That was for an October wedding.

@AirForceWife78:  If 90% of my guests lived local I’m not sure I would have sent Save-The-Date Cards…

@gcwest:  I still would.  Other weddings and/or events could come up.  Especially in May.  There’s birthdays, graduations, communions, etc.  Least that’s how it goes in my family.

    We did ours around thanksgiving.

ETA – most of our guest list is local, too, but May is a really busy month for a lot of people and we wanted to get on calendars.

We are getting married black friday 2013 and are planning to send out STD 10 months in advanced because of the holiday…! I think 6 months honestly for out of town guests is cutting it a little close (but Im WAY OCD about time..), I would feel a little stressed.

We got married in December and I think we sent them out in February. All of our guests had to travel, any where from 1-3 hours. I think if most of your guests are local you can get away with sending them out closer to the wedding (still 6months out would be good).

We have 45% Out of Town and are sending ours out this week (about 7 months early, I am too anxious to wait for the 6th month mark). Even though most of your guests are local I still think you should send them out at the 6 month mark.

I meant to send ours out in January but now we are seding them exatly 6 months in advance. We put the word out as soon as we booked so i’m pretty sure everyone knows when it is…

We sent ours 8 months out because we have a TON of out of state, and a few out of country guests.  I think 6 months is the standard.

We sent ours out about 9 months ahead. They were sent out early September 2011 for a May 2012 wedding.

we did ours around 6 months ahead.  BUT that was really the earliest we could, since we are only having a 10 month engagement.

Sent them out in January for our June wedding. A few guests didn’t get theirs (thanks to fiance and his terrible guest list-a bunch of the addresses were wrong on his side). We kind of gave up on it and didn’t re-send the ones that didn’t go through, instead we just told those people the date.
