i started my registry right before we sent our save the dates out, so late october. we’re also having an engagement party in december. at the latest, start your registry before the showers and before your invites go out. if you start now, don’t add seasonal items because they’ll be out of stock by the time someone wants to buy you a gift.

we registered at bed bath and crate and barrel.

I don’t think seven months is unreasonable. Your guests won’t pay attention to the registry until invites go out/showers are arranged. From my experience, it’s taken weeks to figure out what we truly, honestly want, and what’s reasonable to ask for. I think those buffer months between the creation of and use of your registry are more for your benefit, haha.

We registered at MyRegistry, which is a fantastic universal registry. We’re using it as a  traditional gift registry and honeymoon registry. 🙂

@FutureMrs.Notch: We’re getting married in October and we plan to register in June/July. As of right now were planning to register at Bed Bath and Beyond and CB2 (like Crate and Barrel but way awesomer). Our friends were married last October and they only had a 6 month engagement so they registered pretty quickly. By the time her shower rolled around, alot of the things that they had registered for were discontinued so they ended up having to go re-register for almost everything. They were not happy campers!

We registered early, around October for our June wedding.  It was nice because we had time to think of things we wanted to add, or things we didn’t actually need.  No one actually bought anything until around April since both my wedding showers were in May.

We registered at 3 places: Williams Sonoma, Target & BBB.

We’re registering before we send out invitations. Bed Bath and Beyond and maybe 1 or two other places.

We registered in October for our July wedding. I wanted to do it before the holiday’s so if our families wanted to shop off of it, they could plus take advantage of the holiday sales. we plan on updating it periodically especially when the seasonal stuff for summer comes out next year. We also did C&B and BBB. I HIGHLY recommend doing a registry event if you can (C&B has an awesome one).

I’ve been slowly adding stuff to our registry (our wedding is June as well), but just make sure you check back occasionally to make sure the items are still in stock.  You definitely want to make sure your guests have options of what to get you.

We went to Macy’s and registered in September and since then I have registered for us online at Pottery Barn and will probably add Bed,Bath and Beyond before the wedding. I have spent a good amount of time editing our registries so I’m glad I have had plenty of time. Will probably go back to the store in early February because sometimes not all the little kitchen gadgets are available online.  My shower is going to be in February so I don’t expect anyone to buy anything or even look at them before then.
