I knew when we ordered it that it would take 10 weeks. I had planned on buying a dresser off craigslist, a crib from buy buy baby, etc, when my parents unexpectedly and generously offered to by us custom furniture at 27 weeks. Couldn’t say no to that! We have a cosleeper and kept all of the babys clothes in the guestroom dresser, so I wasn’t too concerned if she made an early appearance.

With out first we set up in the beginning of Feb and I wasn’t due until the very end of July But we had an empty room. This time we have an empty room that we planned on turning into the nursery. We will wait until Feb probably (June 6 due date) but the floors and paint will be redone probably after thanksgiving since we are doing that in all the bedrooms.

@hippomama:  awesome!! We want to be sure everything is ready and honestly I loved having it set up so early last time. I kept having preterm labor issues in the end so we were glad it was ready to go just in case. I think I ended up moving things around a few times and we saved some last minute things like washing clothes and curtains so I’d have something to do!

really, we are just too excited to wait 🙂 good luck!!

I’m 25 weeks right now, and we’re in the same position.  We actually have all our furniture in boxes (gifts from family members, currently cluttering up the dining room).  We’re getting our windows replaced in hopefully 2 weeks, and then we’ll paint, and then we’ll move in.  My goal is to have it all done by the end of October, at which time I’ll be 30 weeks.

We turned one of our guestrooms into the nursery.  Fortunately we painted this room last year a light gray which we kept for baby.  We started getting the room ready around 20w – put new carpet in.  Then at 21 weeks the crib went up, 22 weeks his dresser was built.  By 26 weeks, everything was done – shelves were up, closet organized and all clothes washed and put away. I am 35 weeks now and I cannot even begin to imagine doing half that stuff now – too uncomfortable

Sometime around 17-18 weeks I think we cleared out the room.  A week or so later my husband built the furniture and then another week or so after that we bought baskets/organizers/etc.  So around 20ish weeks we had furniture and organizers built but haven’t done any of the decorating because I don’t want it all sitting getting dusty. Some of the things we’ve bought already I’ve left in packages and now at almost 26 weeks I finished making the bedding and am working on the curtains.  I’m not really planning on doing much more to the nursery until after my showers because I kind of want to see what stuff we have before I actually start putting it away/organizing it.

We painted the room about six weeks ago. The walls were this insanely bright blue (we moved in at the end of June), and we wanted to change that. We bought our crib, because we knew we weren’t going to register for it. It is currently converted to a toddler bed, because our 2 year old nephew spent the weekend with us two weeks ago. We have a dresser in there, because we inherited it from my grandma and it is very close to matching the wood color. We bought a glider last weekend but are debating returning it.

Other than that, that is all we will do until our showers in November. We have a bunch of stuff on our registry. I want to do more now, while I have some energy, but I’ll just have to be patient :-).

I wasn’t sure where we were going to put this baby when I found out we were expecting again.  We have a 4 bedroom house and all 3 of our older kids were occupying the rooms plus me and dh.  Luckily for us we had an office that hadn’t been used as an office for a while and since I got sick with the pregnancy, became a cluttered mess of a room.  After I felt better, I decided to remake our office into a nursery.  We also have another room that was the toyroom that I moved all the office stuff into and now the room functions perfectly as an all purpose or mulitfunction room.  We have a few of the kids toys in there still, the office stuff including computer and desk (which was still in the ‘nursery’ up until about 3 weeks ago).  We also have a futon in that room that is comfy and can sleep a guest if need be.

I wanna say I was about 5 or 6 months pregnant when we organized the toyroom and cleared out the office.  It ws also around that time we started shopping for baby for the first time.  I had a ton of stuff I got from dh’s cousin and his mom but we hadn’t bought anything for baby until that point.  We didn’t actually finish the room until I was about 8 or so months pregnant and after my baby shower.  I was glad when it was done… and was glad I only had a few things to do at that point.  It was a good thing I got the room ready when I did because nearing the end of the pregnancy was so hard for me.

It’s nice to have most of what you have to do done before baby so you can relax and chill a bit.  The last things I did was wash the clothes, organize the closet at around 37 weeks.

My DS is 2 months old and I *still* don’t have his nursery set up, because we closed on our first home a month after he was born. Hopefully I can start to get his room set up soon! He’s in our room for now anyways at night, so it doesn’t bother me too much.

I’m 30 weeks and it’s only now really being set up. His cot is in the right spot as is his dresser. The bed is all made up, his dresser/change table has been filled, and his monitor is in place. Decor wise we still have a lot of work to do though.
