@emmalyn:  Make sure you book your venue right away – you can’t set a date if you don’t have one of those! I wanted 10/4/14 but the venue we decided on and most of the other ones we looked at didn’t have anything in September, most of August except one weeend at the beginning of the month, and all of the October Saturday’s except the 25th…..so we chose the 25th!

It is possible to do a wedding in 9 months – people have done it in 3-6….lol. Just work hard, figure out your budget and start getting information about venues, photographers, dj’s, etc. together! ๐Ÿ™‚

Agree that as long as you book a venue relatively soon, you’re fine. I would also start dress shopping if you are planning to order via a bridal shop since dresses can take 6+ months to come in.

yes I agree- book the venue and date right away.  Also, book the things most important to you (catering, photography, DJ) right away to secure them.

I got engaged on Oct 21 and we got the first choice on all of our vendors for our 9/13/14 wedding.

Good luck!

@emmalyn:  We set a date of only 8 months after we got engaged. It’s tight, but as long as you stay on top of things it’s not so bad.

First, find a venue and lock down your date. Then get the other vendors researched. Photographer, caterer, cake, DJ… Once vendors are commited your load will lighten and its just the little details

Oh, and try to figure out what you want for a dress quickly. If it has to be made, it can take 6 months or so, and you’ll want a little extra time for alterations and stuff

I found a wedding timeline on Pinterest which was super helpful to keep me on track and make sure I’m not fogetting anything

I got married 4.5 months after getting engaged. You can do it!

Start looking for your venue ASAP, but otherwise I think you’ll be fine.  I have good friends who got married this past September who had a 9 month engagement and everything turned out fine for them.  Once you get your venue, hire the photographer and start shopping for a dress.  You can do it ๐Ÿ™‚

@emmalyn:  I was in a wedding where the couple got engaged and then married only 6 months later.  They had a beautiful wedding, so it is totally do-able.  Just get started ASAP.  Book your venue and your ceremony location first thing, and then go look for a dress.  You want to get that done soon.  Then start looking for vendors.  You may not always get your first choice, but if you start booking soon you shouldn’t have too much of a problem.  I thought I was behind in booking a florist 8 months out, and when I started going to floral consultations all I kept hearing was “wow, you’re early!” Don’t stress yourself out.  Just get moving and take things one step at a time.  You’ll get it done.

I think you’ll be fine – my wedding is planned for July 2014 and we don’t even have a venue finalized yet. *headdesk* You should definitely pick a venue ASAP and try to find a dress, since believe it or not wedding dresses can take 6+ months to come in, and then you will need another month or so for alterations.

Agreed with previous posters. Get the big stuff done asap. September is a popular month! Venue, DJ, Photographer, Dress! You can do it, I got the big stuff done really early then did nothing for months and months. Now I’m 4.5 months out and really getting down to the details!!

We have a 9 month engagement.

First month was securing a guestimate of the guest list, & venues for ceremony then reception. If you plan a church wedding, make sure to get an idea of available days before looking at venues.

I got engaged 10/26/13 and am getting married 9/20/14.

I was on the phone with a photographer last week – and maybe this was her being super salesy (I did not end up going with her – because I felt like shew as too pushy) however she did bring up a valid point.

In the next few months, there will be a lot of people getting engaged – having a spring wedding would be too soon so they will be shooting for fall. She told me that people will book up quicker than you’d think. Just something to keep in mind ๐Ÿ™‚

@emmalyn:  I agree with everyone to book you venue ASAP!! You have more options for photogs and other vendors so 9 months should be plenty of time.

And big +1 to what happybee814 said. Tis the season!
