We are 4 hours from our families and I hate it! Fiance got a good paying job in Ottawa so we had to move away from cottage country and adapt to city living. I guess it makes going home that much better, and I definitely appreciate where I came from a lot more now!

The Darling Husband and I live about a 5-6 hour flight (depending upon which way we fly) away from our families. It’s definitely tough being so far from home. But we did it for my career. My family was supportive of the move because they knew that it would be a great opportunity for me. Both of us, me and the Darling Husband, knew that this wasn’t a forever move for us. Also, me and the Darling Husband are both young and don’t have kids, so it was kind of the best time to travel while we arn’t ‘tied down’. We plan to move back. The one good thing is that we had to rely on each other during this time. I know having family so close does make things difficult and also being dependent on certain family member does happen. Also, we were both living with our parents (before we were married) before we moved out to the west coast. Also, the moved got the Darling Husband to find another job instead of the job he was at since high school.
I can’t wait to move back to the east coast but for now, we are trying to enjoy the independence and experience!

I live about an hour from my family. Not too far, yet not too close. I needed a break from them. FI’s family is where we are.

I live about a 4 hour flight or 2 day drive from my family. We first moved down here for my fiance (then boyfriend’s) grad school and my work. We plan to move back by our families once kids are in the picture but that gives us about 6-8 years to figure that out. It’s definitly a challenge but it has brought us both closer to our families because all family time is “quality time”.
It’s all up to you and how you can make it work etc. Good luck with the decision!

We live about 10 minutes from my parents and about an hour from his. I actually wish that we lived a bit further from mine because I feel like we are ALWAYS there. It’s partially my fault because I work with my mom so we end up in the same place but sometimes I just need a break from them hahaha
What about an inbetween location? Like further East but not quite Quebec?
