I found a dress line I love- Alyne- and the nearest store that carries it is San Diego (127 miles south of me). However, when I called them, they said that they don’t have most of the dresses in the store and only have 1 of the 4 I’m interested in- furthermore they had a trunk show a few weeks ago and probably won’t have another for a while. They said they can have them shipped to the store but it would cost me $100 a piece just to try them on! 🙁
However- a store in Fresno (221 miles north of me) that carries the line (it’s the next closest store to Los Angeles) is having a trunk show next weekend and expects to have most of the dresses (at least 3 of the ones I like)! SO I made an appointment and am going on a 4 hour road trip with 1 or 2 of my BMs to try at least 3 dresses on! 🙂
The styles I’m interested in are from the Spring 2011 collection- the Aidelaide, the Jacklyn, the Mackenzie and the Audrey. Here is the site in case you’re interested: alynebridal.com
SO… how far have you traveled to try on a dress?

I drove over an hour before to drive on dresses. Technically it is less than 50 miles, however due to traffic, it usually takes more than an hour.

I drove to a shop in Ohio (I live in Pittsburgh) just over an hour away to try on a dress I couldn’t find anywhere in Pittsburgh. I ended up hating it, but it was totally worth it for me to drive out there – otherwise I would have always wondered! I think it sounds like a fun girls road trip!

We traveled from Bethesda, MD (where we live) to Occoquan, VA (over an hour each way) to check out a bridal consignment store in Occoquan. However, both of us found “the dress” there, so it was worth it!

Ha! I haven’t made the trip yet, but I will be going to the exact same store in Fresno to try on the Alyne line! But I am going to be out of town for the trunk show so I am going to have to wait a little while. And I will be coming from the Bay Area.
I hope they are as good in person as they look online!

@rheabee80: Awesome! Which ones are you interested in? I hope they are as nice in person too. I’ll let you know what I think- I’m going next weekend! I’m so excited- this will be my FIRST dress shopping day. 🙂

@lessthan3: Looking at the Lindsay and maybe the Poppy… it will most likely be my first (and hopefully last) time in a bridal salon trying on dresses!
Definitely let me know! I think it is a newer designer so it is hard to find much on them.

I’ve driven one hour to a different city to try on dresses, and then thanks to my Fiance taking up so much time in World Market I wound up too late! We forgot stores closed early on Sundays D:
