I am looking forward to the answers!!! I am getting married the day after you, and just have referrals as well. For both hair and makeup.

I did my hair trial last week, about a month out from my wedding.

I am doing my own makeup so I did multiple makeup trials and started months ago.

I’ve heard that you are supposed to do it as close to the wedding as you can, so your hair will be the same length/color and your skin tone will be the same, but I’m probably going to do mine for my shower which is a little over two months out.

I don’t think you are behind.

I did my make-up trial 5 months in advance because I know that I have very sensitive skin and wanted to allow plenty of time to get it right in case I reacted to the products my MUA used. It was a good call for me because we found out that airbrush and my skin don’t mix. It took 4 trials to find the right combo of products that would last all day and night AND not irritate my skin. So I highly recommend doing a make-up trial far in advance if you have sensitive skin issues. And I wanted to see how my hair and make-up looked together, so i did the hair trial on the same day as my first make-up trial. My stylist nailed it on the first try, so we were good on that front. But if not, just book your MUA and stylist ahead of time and schedule your trial closer to your wedding date. That way you’ll have your jewelry, veil, and any other accessories on hand to see most of your look pulled together at the same time.

I’m DIYing my makeup.  My hair trial is set for a month before the wedding.

I did mine in December for logistical reasons-I’m getting married back home in Nashville but I’m in grad school 1200 miles away. I won’t be back home until right after finals, which is right before my wedding, so if I didn’t do my trial over Christmas break I wouldn’t get to do it until a few days before the wedding. I’m so glad I did it that early now because I hated both my hair and makeup. I’m really busy with school, so it gives me time to look into other options.
