I think I started looking around 6 months and we ordered by 4 months.  I wouldn’t wait any longer than 4 months out, unless you’re going off the rack.  (BTW, I am totally fine with the ‘go find a ___ colored dress you’ll wear again’ approach) But definitely earlier than later if you have to order them… plus time for alterations and any other snafus.

It depends on how long the dresses take to come in, and if you’re trying to decide on your color scheme. My girls’ dresses are going to be teal chiffon – I knew I wanted some kind of shade of blue, but there were certain shades I didn’t want. The dresses we ended up getting didn’t carry some of the blue shades I was hoping for (Like a peacock blue) so knowing that their colors will be a certain teal will help me with the rest of my planning now, like picking out invites, flowers, etc. We just ordered ours maybe 3 weeks ago and they take 3 months to get in, so they’ll be in around mid-June in time for our September wedding. Rather than drag your girls all over the place, I’d suggest start looking for styles/colors/prices online and maybe send them some ideas to get feedback. Then pick a date to bring your Maid/Matron of Honor and maybe one other girl to decide. It was hectic with all four BMs and our moms in the store. They ended up all with the same color/fabric and different styles. I guess it depends on what you want. But it sounds like you have plenty of time. Personally, I like to check stuff off my list sooner than later!

I’ve already decided on bridesmaid dresses. The shop said 3-4 months for them to come in. So we are probably going to the put the order in the middle of the month. It all depends on how long they take to come in and plus time for alterations.

Start looking anytime! Never too early in my opinion. I was looking all over different websites but also keeping in the back of my mind the typical designer bridesmaid dresses take awhile to come in. I found my bm dresses on Ralph Lauren’s website. They were having a sale and the dresses were $75.00 each!! Bright red, knee length, have straps and pockets! You can get an amazing deal if you look around different websites and the bms can always get the dresses altered at a tailor.

It’s never too soon to start searching!  But wait until a few months before to have your bridesmaids measured for their dress sizes.  People can change sizes in a year!  As PP have said, 4-6 months is a good time to order their dresses.
