I would do it anytime now. Some come faster some come slower than they say. I have seen ladies who ordered in time and the dress almost didnt make it in time. I would rather be safe than sorry. JMO

when I ordered mine they said it would take three months. A few places told me 3-4. I do know some that take up to 6 months. 3 months sounds like a long time for alterations though. I guess it just depends where you will get your dress from. I think you should start shopping now so you can leisurely do it. I do think you should purchase your dress no later than 9 months from your wedding date just in case…

The dress shops i’ve seen reccommend no less than 6-9 months.

My dress took eight full months to come in, so I would start looking soon, especially if you don’t find one you love immediately!

My dress took almost a year to come in.  Buy whenever you feel comfortable.  I was told by a lot of places one year is a pretty good time to purchase.

On the flip side, my DB dress took less than 3 weeks to come in, it actually arrived exactly 12 months before my wedding. Its fine though, its just sitting in a closet and I don’t have to worry about it. Basically, look whenever you feel ready, and there is nothing wrong with earlier.

I guess the only caveat is if you are afraid you might get dress regret, I think lots of time is the enemy.

I have the same issue currently, my wedding is Oct. 2013 – but I’m afraid to start looking now. I’ve heard rumors that designers release new styles in the new year, but is waiting until Jan/Feb too late??

We have a 25 month engagement (down to 7 months 27 days now!!) but I started looking immediately online and in magazines….I saved pictures and such….I waited until the Fall 2013 line came out to finally shop, and went in June of this year!  Basically 12 months out…I purchased the gown in August.

9ish months, but you can get many dresses quite a bit faster than that. Honestly I wish I would have just waited and bought it off the rack or rushed it, because my mind changed so many times waiting lol.

I bought mine 9 months out, could definitely have waited longer but it’s worked out for me!

I ordered mine 5.5 months in advance and that’s cutting it close. When the lady at the bridal salon was filling out the form to send to the designer, she wrote my date one month earlier than it actually is just to make sure my dress would arrive on time.

It depends on the dress/designer/bridal salon etc. I ordered mine at the end of July and it already arrived even though I was told 4-6 months…I was expecting it in February but it’s here already. I would rather have it way early than be stressing out at the end if it ends up taking a long time. You also never know if you will find one right away it took me months and multiple stores to find one so I think whenever you’re ready to start looking go for it! 🙂
