How far in advance do shower/bachelorette party invitations get sent out? My bridesmaids are planning both of these for me on the same weekend, and all but one of them lives out of town, so they’ll be flying in for it, though no one else will.
The shower isn’t until July 24, and one of my BMs wants to send them out in April. I think that’s way too early. What are everyone’s thoughts on this? I’ve only been to one shower and it was a few years ago and don’t remember how early the invites were sent out.

I’m also a Maid/Matron of Honor for a wedding in 8/1 and I’m hosting her shower 6/6 and bachelorette 6/26.. I think I am going to send out invites 6-8 weeks ahead (I guess like wedding invites) I don’t know what the “official” protocol is for these types of events though but yeah April definitely sounds early!

If only your BMs are going to need to fly in and they’re all involved in the planning then I think 6-8 weeks is more than enough time beforehand to send them out. April is way too early IMO. Treat it as you would a birthday party timeframe.

I think that May would probably be good. I know that I need at least a few months to make sure that I get a good price on airfare since it gets expensive when you get to close to the date. Are you sure that people are going to be able to travel for the bachelorette and then the wedding the month after? I know I wouldn’t be able to afford that right now.

Only my BMs are travelling for both…the shower will be only for local people. So since the BMs are hosting the shower and bach party, they obviously already know the dates, so airfare isn’t an issue for the guests.

I know nothing about my shower, but I know my bachelorette is the weekend of July 30th. My MOH’s have sent out an email to give everyone the heads up & keep that weekend open. Our group of friends has a lot of weddings this year so a little advanced notice goes a long way. We’re just going to AC for the weekend so there’s no flying involved, everyone’s in driving distance.
