Mine was like 50 minute drive. Never thought it was a big deal as long as every single guest has a way to get there.

I vote- don’t ask us… ask your close friend guests!! Cause they’ll doing it.

I’ve driven out of town and then had to drive 30 minutes to the ceremony and another 30 to the reception from the hotel they wanted everyone to be at. In an new town, following Google for directions isn’t fun. Plus, you never know who may need to carpool together.

We live in Texas, in a more rural community, and a few friends have had a 1 hour drive between the family church and ranch reception venue.  The reception venue was so nice, it was worth it (and for the second wedding reception we attended there, we shaved down the drive by taking some backroads :))

No one minded the drive, but again, we are used to longer drives I think than smaller states.

I once had to travel between Manhattan and Long Island for a friend’s wedding, and it took 1.5 hours. That was a really long trip, but the mileage wasn’t bad. I wouldn’t give a second thought to your guests having to travel a little more than a half hour.

I think it depends where. My friend’s wedding, the reception was supposedly only 10 minutes away but it was in downtown and lots of crazy traffic so everyone was late and freaking out. You should be prepared with an alternate route in case there is an accident, etc.

If you accommodate that in the timeline and give people clear directions, I don’t think a half hour is too bad.

Personally, I am not big on having to drive more than 15 minutes between a ceremony and reception.

Brielle :  1.5 hour drive between venues!! That is way too much for me!

I think half an hour or less is ok.

This is no big deal to me. I’ve done it before.

I’ve driven an hour and a half – two hours to get from ceremony to reception site (you work with what you have in a rural area, ha!). It doesn’t bother me at all. Our ceremony to reception drive is 25 minutes and if our guests think that’s too far, it’s their loss. They aren’t the ones paying for your wedding! You do you.

This may be because of where I’m from, living in a rural area people know they’re gonna have to drive, and I’ve never heard anyone complain about it, except for maybe the wedding party who has to make sure that everything gets to the next site! 😉

I think it’s too much.

Can you not do the ceremony at the reception site?

Our ceremony is a 30 minute drive from our reception. I think that it’s close anything an hour or more would be pushing it
