We booked 11 months ahead, shortly after our engagement. We knew that would be critical for downstream planning, but we probably could’ve waited and still gotten a nice place.

We started looking July 2015. Tentitively held the date for months (our venue was amazing and no pressure). We finally got contract November 2015 and paid Jan 2016. We are getting married feb 2017.

We booked 14 months in advance. At that time, all Saturdays were taken for the season we were looking at, and we got the last Friday.  I say, book the venue as soon as you are engaged!

15 months.  We got the last available Saturday in the fall of the following year – the venue picked our date for us. 🙂

do it as soon as possible

We booked 15 months in advance. I know a few girls who booked a spot in their college chapel before they were even engaged or had a serious bf, let alone married (they all went to Notre Dame, I guess that’s a thing there). At least you were engaged before booking.

meglynn:  We booked ours about 19 months out, as we knew the venue we loved is always booked far in advance.  FI and I have had a relatively long engagement, so it’s been nice to cross things off the list slowly and not feel rushed!

We will be engaged less than a year so we didn’t have the same amount of time as others! We booked about 9.5 months out for Thanksgiving weekend (Canadian).

19 mos but that wasn’t soon enough and we couldn’t get our preferred date. It’s crazy huh? It’s good you booked early.

My venue is already booked almost every Saturday in 2017 and many Friday’s are taken.  If you needed a Saturday wedding you are in no way crazy for getting dibs on your date!

We just booked our venue for July 2017, so 18 months out. We are fairly close to a large city where the weather is terrible for most of the year, so June – August Saturdays book very quickly out here. I’ve been reaching out to other vendors and letting them know that I know I am booking early and they’ve all informed me that I’m actually not early and that this is the perfect time to book! I was caught pretty off guard with all of this becuase when Fiance and I got engaged this past September, we wanted to get married this upcoming summer, which would’ve given us only 10 months to plan. Sad we have to wait so long to tie the knot, but it’s been nice actually taking the time to enjoy planning! You get lots of time to research other vendors and really solidify what you want.
