Booked my October 2017 wedding in January 2016. About 21 months out. I was scared my date would be taken.

We booked about five months out. Our venue is more popular in the fall than the summer, so there were plenty of summer dates available.

We booked 8 months prior, just before we got engaged. Lol. We didn’t have too difficult of a time finding a venue but that was only because we chose to have such a small wedding. The place we went with held a maximum of 60 people.

meglynn:  about 14 months and the venue only had 2 dates left in 2016 (mine and Thanksgiving weekend). Venues where I live book soooo fast as there are only a few really pretty outdoor ones so the good months are almost always booked.

I was previously engaged a long time ago though and the venue we booked was like in magazines and top 10 places in the U.S. to get married. It was really famous and for that we booked almost two years in advance (they only had our date left in the year we booked too). That’s the only reason I was sad about calling off my engagement. That venue was a dream.

We booked in February 2016 and our date is at the end of November 2016. So nine months give or take early.

We booked in November 2015 for November 2016. We were engaged in April 2015 so waited about 6ish months before biting the bullet on a venue.

We booked in November 2015 for a May 2017 wedding, so about 18 months. I probably would’ve been fine to wait a few more months, but we already knew when we wanted to get married, so I figured, why not?

I think it all depends on your area. I got engaged 2 years ago and was so excited to start planning so I emailed venues and they all pretty much told me to come back a year away from our wedding date as the prices change. Well, I went “venue hunting” 14 months before my wedding and my favorite venue already had no days left for a summer wedding! I started to freak out but luckily my 2nd favorite venue had some days left. I ended up booking that venue 13 months before my wedding.

I know in my city things book fast, I even had to book my photographer a year out.

We were only engaged for 6 months, so we booked our reception venue as soon as we got engaged. We also had a small wedding (60 people) so it was easy to find one that was available.

We are currently penciled in for a date in sept 2017. By the end of this month we plan on booking the date.

It’s NYC so we want to book fairly soon.
