My girls are all getting together this weekend to get their dresses. We are just under 3 months out. I think we should have done this a few months ago, but that’s a whole other story. I am letting the girls pick out their own dresses. We decided to go with David’s Bridal and I just told them knee length or tea length in Sangria, and they can pick whatever style they want, and then to get silver shoes-again in whatever style they want.

I got engaged June 2010, by August I had my dress picked out and bought. I then went to David’s Bridal by my house just to see what they had and found some that I liked. I think it was around April 2011 that I went with the girls to show them what I liked and they tried on dresses. I got lucky because they all loved the same dress. We are ordering them this year in April. Hope this helps.

I’m getting married in July.  In January I sent info to my girls about what type of dress to get (I’m letting them choose their own, I’ve specified color and fabric).  I’ve asked them to order by the end of March and to let me know when they’ve done so.

I’ll follow up at the beginning of March to see if where they’re at.

When I went shopping for my gown, my mom and Maid/Matron of Honor went with me so we have my Maid/Matron of Honor try on a couple bridesmaids dresses then.  About two months later (6 months out from wedding), I invited my three local bridesmaids (MOH actually lives in another country and was back abroad at this point) to go look some more and make a decision.  Only two of them were able to make it but they were incredibly helpful.

I think one of the big things that helped was that the girls already knew some guidelines before we walked in.  I had already said that I wanted short dresses and they all agreed and they knew we would be looking for something purple.  The two of them are also very familiar with my style and while they looked for dresses the liked, they kept my style in mind.  I actually remembering seeing one of them pick up a dress, hold it, walk away and then go put it back on the rack.  I asked her why and she said “Wellll, I really like it but I know it’s not you and I want to find something we’ll both like”…it was actually a really sweet moment.

I didn’t–just told them to wear black and they got whatever they liked. Turned out pretty well as they all looked fantastic and they all ended up choosing short strapless styles. Looks way more coordinated than it was!

I took 2 out of 4 girls with me 10 months out. We were going to just take photos and let the other 2 vote, but the 3 of us fell in love with one dress so we decided to get that one. I wanted to check as much off my list as I could so I just got their dresses out of the way sooner rather than later.

We started looking about eight months ahead of time, ordered at six months before the wedding.
