My mom met my dad, got engaged and got married within 6 months. It was the second marriage for both of them. I want to say they were engaged within two months.

A girl that my mom went to school with ran into the guy and they got married three weeks later. They had a different story though. They’d dated in high school but broke up in college, they’d both gone off and married other people and had kids, but then divorced their significant others. They always thought of each other as the “one that got away” so when they ran into each other at a school reunion they went ahead and tied the knot. It was really sweet. They’ve been married now for about 8 years.

As a waiting girl, I found this post depressing.  Many of us have been with SOs for YEARS and reminding us that people can meet and get married within 6 months seems cruel.  Personally, it makes me feel like a failure that I couldn’t accomplish that as quickly.  For some reason I don’t mind reading the stories about people who rushed into marriage and got divorced though.  Interesting.

I know people who got engaged in 1-3months But had a 9-12 month engagement period before they got married.

@HeartsandSparkles:  you won’t feel this way when those 6 month waiters get divorced just as fast as they got married. Means you’re not desperate ans what you have is worth awaiting for.

3 or 4 months, I’m not quite sure. It’s my 20 year old cousin. This is her second engagement, first time she was 17…at least at the time she had some sense to wait, as they broke up soon after starting college. Now the wedding is set in Vegas, and by that time they still will not have known each other for a year. I do worry about that girl….

I got engaged after a month of dating (knew each other via online for about a month prior to that). But we are waiting a year to get married, so  dont quite count.

My friend started dating her now husband in July 2011, got engaged in December 2011, pregnant February 2012, then married June 2012. She’s due November 9th. So all in all, they got married 10 months after “officially” dating.

My dad’s current girlfriend got married to her ex-husband within four weeks of meeting him. The marriage lasted less than a year. She also moved in with my dad within 2 months of dating. She’s in her early forties. The only thing that really bothers me about her choices is that she has two small boys (7 and 5) that she’s drug along with her throughout her relationships. Not something I would do, but I’ve always been a bit more rational than emotional.

I know a couple who met, got engaged, and got married all within a year. They actually got married on the anniversary of the day they met.

I know another guy who proposed to a girl he had known for two weeks. She said yes even though she had a boyfriend at the time… a boyfriend who was flying halfway around the world to visit her. She waited until after he got there to break up with him and is now married to the new guy.

A coworker met her husband on the first night of her Cozumel vacation…they got married on Day 5 at the resort. They’ve been together for 15 years and are blissfully happy.

My parents got engaged 2 wks after they met. Married within 6 months of meeting, and they would have done it sooner but they allowed my grandparents to plan a wedding for them.  Love at first sight, plus a large dose of luck, and they are the happiest couple I know, married over 30 years!
