I am the one who always has to wash towels after every shower. But I’m a huge germaphobe. My husband on the other hand can use the same towel to dry off with for a week. What he does seems really logical to me but I just can’t bring myself to it! lol

Usually every third use, but sometimes, if it still feels wet/it is particularly cold that day I’ll get a new one right away.

I tend to use a towel 2-3 times before washing it.

We do towels and sheets once a week. My husband would DEFINITELY wash towels more often if I let him. He washes a shirt if he wears it for twenty minutes, changes his mind, and puts something else on though – I’m slowly breaking him of the habit of washing things sooooo frequently. For instance, I hold his sweaters hostage in the laundry if he puts them in the basket too frequently, haha. He really should be able to wear a sweater 2-3 times before washing it!

He wonders why his clothes don’t last…

I have a thing with this. Total germaphobe here too. I use it once and have to wash it. I consider it dirty at that point. It just gives me the heebie jeebies to use it again. When I shower, I use one towel to stand on when I get out (so I don’t get the bath mat wet… I know, I know), one for my body, and one for my hair.

Lot of laundry in this household!!!

whoa you all wash towels way more often than we do! i grew up in a house that washed sheets and towels once per week, unless the towels smell damp or bad earlier. we don’t wash quite that often even anymore, since there’s no laundry in our apt or building (yay nyc apt living Frown) and laundry is expensive! i miss having a machine in my apt soooo much!

I generally only wash bath towels once a week. I figure the only time it touches me is when I’m clean, so it can’t be getting too dirty, no? (We also keep our bathroom heated warm enough so that they dry quick and don’t get gross).

We don’t wash our towels that often. Every 1 1/2 weeks to 2 weeks, maybe? I guess that has never bothered me. How does a towel get dirty that fast if you are clean while using it? lol Guess it just doesn’t bother me. Now bedsheets on the other hand..ewww. I can only imagine all the germs on the sheets from oil and dry skin, etc. But bath towels? Doesn’t bother me. 🙂 After reading this thread, though, maybe I’ll start washing them more often. hehe

I think I use mine about three/four times.

I’ll use a towel twice as my face/hair turban towel, and then demote it to the body towel one or two times.  I never use a towel that’s used on the body back to the face/hair.  Something about rubbing it on my bum, and then my face freaks me out…

I’ll own up to being one of the approximately once-a-month votes!  And I don’t find it gross at all.

I only shower about 2-3 times a week typically and the towels are only used on my freshly cleaned body and they dry quickly.  IMO, there is no need to waste water and detergent to wash them all the time when they really just gotten a little wet a few times.

I only use a towel once before I wash it (probably the reason I have about 20 towels since I hate doing laundry often as well).

I know that you’re clean after showering before you use them, but the idea that something I just dried my bum off with will be possibly touching my face tomorrow is just a no-go for me. My mother has always hated me for this 🙂

I voted once/week but sometimes less – depending if it smells 😉

I throw our towels in the wash about once a week. I have a towel I dry my hair with, and that goes in maybe once every week and a half. As long as they dry out properly between uses it seems sanitary enough to me!

if i had a washer/dryer in my apartment, i would use towels only once or twice. as it is, we change them about once a week.
