I am so nervous that im going to be over my head plannig the wedding alone. I dont know anyone in Louisianna. I have some ideas for it.. I have a venue already, dress, jewerly, wedding colors, bakery for cake picked out, invites….. but it seems like it would be so hard to get EVERYTHING all put together and it look pretty…. is it best to get a planner or toughen it out and do it alone??

@chloejade: I think it’s do-able on your own if you give yourself enough time. Will the folks at your venue help out with setting up? Mine has instructed me to just drop everything off and they will take care of it (minus arranging flowers 🙂
What about your bridesmaids? I’m planning all the details and it sounds like you’ve got a lot planned already but I’m sure your girls will help you out as well.
Get organized and put together a timeline for your planning as well as the day of. You can do it!!

It is different for everyone, but I do highly recommend that you at least get a DOC (day of coordinator). Getting one will allow you, your family, and your guests to enjoy your day without having to worry about keeping things on tme and flowing smoothly. They will make sure that everything gets set up and delivered and taken down your way. If any problems arise, they will be the ones to take care of it; hopefully, without you knowing anything about it, until after the wedding. The rest you can pretty much do yourself, unless you think you might get overwhelmed by it.

I don’t think planning a wedding is at hard as it seems. I feel like it seems like such a difficult task but that’s because so so many brides freak out over everything, try to do way too much and end up stressing themselves out.
Keep calm, keep an open mind, figure out what you want most for the day (great food? an amazing dance party? an intimate feeling?) and focus on that. Try not to stress over the little things. You’ll do great!

Having planned several large parties and two weddings(for my sistas) the key is to be organized. Tackle one task at a time and have a designated binder/flash drive with all of your information. There is no such thing as too many spreadsheets. Make sure to use a timeline found in almost every bridal magazine if you are unsure of what to do. Good luck! Not as daunting as it seems, just take it one step at a time.
