I have been off the pill for about four months. I am curious to see whether your cycles got longer, shorter or the same after coming off the pill. Mine has gradually been getting shorter. 32, 32, 31 and 28 days long. Thanks.

Mine is so inconsistent now! For the first couple of months it was normal but then it went MIA for 3 months, gradually went back to the 28 day cycle over 4 months, and now it’s been MIA for 2 months! Going to make TTC impossible!

Mine started off at 28 days and over the course of 4 or 5 months increased to 32 days, and it has stayed the same for the last year or so.

I’ve only been one full cycle off the pill. It was a little longer than normal (32 days). I’m also charting to avoid… and I noticed a pretty late ovulation date and a LP on the short side. My period so far has been a tiny bit heavier (actually right before coming off the pill my periods were getting heavier than usual and a bit wonky.. so idk), but not as bad as I thought it would be. Who knows I may be one of those lucky ones that regulate fairly quickly. Although I was on a super low hormone one and was only on for about a year and a half to two years. I’m hoping to expect an earlier ovulation time fram as my body regulates itself and a longer LP (I want that for when we do start trying to have babies!!)

When I went off a few years ago, it got REALLY short – like every 2 weeks, right away, and I thought something was wrong so I got checked out and was wrongly diagnosed with PCOS, which stressed me out for like 3 years until I was re-assessed and told I didn’t have it :/ It was just my body getting used to no hormones. After those first few cycles, it became a pretty regular 25 day cycle. I had been on HBC so long that I had no idea I had such a short cycle! I was worried I might have a luteal phase defect but I got pregnant quickly so I figure I’m ok 🙂
Don’t trust that it’s your normal period until at least 6 months after coming off the hormones, I would say. Things might take a while to get back to normal.

I have PCOS, so mine’s always been weird, but before the pill I used to have increasingly long periods with short breaks in between, but after now I have short periods that are months apart. Which is better, but I think worse for your health.
ETA: I just noticed this was in TTC not Wellness, oops. That’s still what happened when I went off BC, but I’m not TTC so long cycles are irrelevant to me.

It became regular. Pre-BC it was all over the place. My cycle lasted anywhere from 28 days to 90 days (it was an extreme stress situation). I’ve been off BC for over a year but it’s since started to average 28-32 days. MUCH better. 🙂

I have lots of data and will share! Before the pill it was 29 days and regular. Since coming off the pill it has been: 120 days (ended with Provera), 39, 30, 40, 28, 27, 26, 34 (I was travelling and it delayed ovulation), 26.
They are short because my LP is short 🙁 I’ve been hoping it would get longer the longer I’ve been off the pill, but it is usually 10 days, sometimes 8.

I was on the pill for a little over 7 years. The first four cycles off the pill were 33 days. The last two cycles were 31.

I also have short luteal phases, although only 2 cycles off the pill. I am so sorry yours has been short for so long, but I’m glad to know at the same time because a lot of people keep telling me to wait and see if they get longer, but I’m taking vitB complex this month to try and lengthen it now, not months from now! have you heard of it before?
So only 2 months off BCPs, but both cycles have been 27-26 days, both with late ovulation and short luteal phases. I am not too happy about it either 🙁

I take a B complex, but I don’t think it has enough B6 to make a difference. I might start taking a separate B6 supplement. (I think 50-200 mg is the recommended range — but don’t take any more than 200 or you can cause nerve damage…)
On the bright side, lots of people don’t have trouble getting pregnant, even with a shorter luteal phase. So, I’ll thank my lucky stars that that seems to be my only issue — especially after the months of not ovulating at all.

Not off the pill yet, but will be interested in knowing what to expect in 6-9 months!

Actually, while TTC, it’s not recommended that you take more than 100 mg of B6 as it can cause birth defects. http://www.livestrong.com/article/492923-will-too-much-vitamin-b-6-cause-birth-defects/
BUT, that being said, am a huge fan of the B6 and B complexes for LP lengthening…as someone with an LPD =)
My cycles have gone from like 28, 30, 33, 37, 31, and 28 days ish and seem to be leveling out at about 30 days exactly.
