My Fiance is majorly interested I a few things like food, booze, cake, and music. Most of the other decisions he has left to me. But he is super helpful at helping me to check things off my list. He booked our honeymoon, booked our lighting company, researched our champagne options, addressed my shower thank you notes and our save the dates, and this weekend he is assembling our invitation suite. Hes not so in loved with the planning, he’s more involved with execution. Every month I assign him a small task list and he knocks it out.

My love is quite active in our planning process as well.  He likes to joke that he is having an arranged marriage and he will arrange to be there.  The truth is, he has his own opinions and suggestions and is quite involved.   I love him even more for that.

He has been been really helpful. We bounce ideas off each other for the wedding and then make decisions together. He’s designing our playlist and our website. He’s just as excited as I am! And he understands that we’re in it for the long haul and agrees with my frugality. He does want to be surprised by the wedding dress, so I did that on my own.

I mainly deal with the wedding planning, but he helps on major details such as picking a destination for our destination wedding, but he has surprised me with some of his opinions, for example he wants a buffet instead of a plated dinner, apparently he doesn’t want a lobster steak combo!  So frustrating, you could care less about 90% of the planning! but you must make an issue of this!

bananacar:  My fiance and I are completely non traditional – we are vendors in the wedding industry & have a child together so we really want to escape for our own wedding.  We are getting married at a private Destination wedding in the Maldives and i’m bringing an extra suitcase full of DIY stuff.  I pick everything out and show him and he voices his opinion (or lack thereof ;P).  However, we are having a party before we leave for our private destination wedding for friends and family and we’re calling it a “Send Off” Party.  Travel is the theme – we will have a photo booth for ‘passport’ photos, a luggage style 2 tier cake, signing of our globe, a ‘baggage claim’ for party favors that will be tiny luggage containers with goodies inside, travel bingo card game, and lots of diy travel theme etc… My fiance has had a lot of opinions and say in our Send Off Party.  He wants the cake a certain way, he added graphics to the travel bingo cards I designed, and so on.  I liked it much better when he wasn’t so involved. LOL!

He loves planning as much as I do! Seriously, we talk about EVERY tiny detail, and we both work equally when it comes to the DIY stuff. Sometimes I feel like he actually does more of the actual work (he’s the one in contact with our wedding planner at the moment…since it’s a destination wedding we don’t really have a lot of vendors to keep in touch with), whereas I’m more behind the scenes, reminding him what to ask, making lists, keeping things organized, etc. I absolutely love planning everything with him. Like others have mentioned, I think the only thing he won’t have any involvement in will be my dress (as he’s already helped me look as shoes and jewelry). We’re both really on the same wavelength about what we want, and pretty good at making compromises when it’s needed. I love it!

I delegated all music to him (because I could not give two craps less) and officant stuff to him (beacuase he is closer to our officiant than I am). Other than that I am doing most of the planning with my mom and his sisters playing a supportive role.
