So as someone who works in a very creative field, I felt the need to ask my 6 bridesmaids in a very creative way. I thought and thought and thought some more, and then BAM! the idea hit me like a bolt of lightening while I was driving home from work one day. As soon as I thought of it I couldn’t wait to get started. I’ll admit, it took some time to collect all the pieces, but once I got everything assembled, it was absolutely perfect. And the best part? My bridesmaids LOVED it!
Curious? Here’s what the finished product looked like:
There are 5 packages with labels that say:
And when the girls opened the packages, what did they see?? VOILA!
Something Old: Picture frame with a fairly embarrassing photo/photos of us from way back when (in this case, we were killing time at Walgreens while I waited to get medicine for my Scarlet Fever. Yeah…don’t ask 🙂 )
Something New: Lip gloss (you can never have enough!)
Something Borrowed: Kleenex (this was the tricky one!)
Something Blue: Cookies & Cream Hershey Kisses (Confession: I ate as many as I wrapped. Whoops!)
…and YOU: Amazingly cute custom cards in my colors from Ceresse at the fabulous Lilly Pink Paperie on Etsy (Highly recommended! She did a wonderful job and was so easy to work with!). I also wrote them long and very personal notes inside each card letting them know how much they mean to me and why it would be an honor to have them beside me on my wedding day.
For my Maid/Matron of Honor and my cousin, I wrapped all the packages in pretty little gift bags and delivered them in person. Lots of happy squeals and jumping ensued. For the other girls, who are all out-of-towners, I mailed them in padded envelopes. It was so fun to receive all their phone calls when the packages finally arrived. I think I had a grin plastered to my face for two full days!
So anyway, just had to share that. They were SO much fun to work on and the reactions were exactly what I hoped for. I wish I could do it all over again!! 🙂
