I never change my washer settings, it’s always on cold-cold, x-large,… and whatever the other one is. Everything is always perfectly clean 🙂

I wash whites and delicates in cold. Colors, towels, and sheets get washed in warm. I never use hot. We do have an older washing machine and it doesn’t work very well, if I had a high efficiency or new washer I’d probably always just use cold.

Everything gets washed in cold here. We use the Arm & Hammer laundry pods.

We purchased a new water softener a couple years ago that conditions all the water in our house.  (Our old model only conditioned the warm/hot water.). That one thing has made the biggest difference- I basically wash everything in cold water unless I have a particularly dirty load of laundry.

I have never noticed a difference in detergents– soap is soap.  I use white vinegar as my fabric softener.  Much more economical and fewER chemicals than petroleum based laundry softener.
