I would take out “Basically we are having a no jeans/shorts affair.” at the end.  Other than that, it sounds fine IMO.

@dynamic_duo: It sounds great. And I say keep the “no jeans/shorts affair” because I have a feeling someone won’t understand and will wear some khaki shorts, and if that’s not what you want then it needs to be said.

I think I would state “No Jeans/No shorts”.  My guy is a jeans guy, and even though he had nice new jeans we couldn’t eat at a nice restaurant. Some people might think if Khakis are okay that jeans would be too.  🙂  Next time we go on vacation, I am going to make sure he packs some long khakis or linen pants 😉  (I don’t think you need to mention hair/make-up)

I would also take out the ‘make-up & hair’ part.  I think most people can figure out what they want to do with their hair & make-up on their own.  The rest sounds fine to me!

This was my website wording:

“We would like to keep the attire Hawaiian casual with some exceptions: no jeans, swimsuits or t-shirts. Dresses, flip-flops, and slacks are appropriate. There are no limitations on color, but black or red is usually not appropriate for weddings.”

Everyone ended up coordinating very well!

@jennyjan16: I said the black or red part because this was not a black and white formal wedding. I should have said casual weddings. EH! It worked out! 🙂

I think it sounds fine! I would definitely leave in the “no jeans/no shorts” request. Beach weddings can leave a LOT to interpretation!

I included something very similar:

What Should I Wear?

Save your little black dress or fancy tux for big-city weddings, and don your most festive tropical attire!

For the ladies, we suggest a colorful dress, skirt and top, or light slacks and blouse. Bring along a sweater or light wrap in case the evening turns cool.

For the men, think Tommy Bahama: khaki or linen pants and a short- or long-sleeved collared shirt or guayabera.

Please, no shorts or t-shirts for the ceremony and reception. But if you plan to stick around for the after-party, DO bring your swimsuit!
