How late after your missed period did you get your BFP?

I didn’t test until I was a week late, but by that time it was super strong bfp.

I have 25-29 day cycles and I got my first very faint positive test on Saturday, 12 days after I ovulated. So either I was 1 day late for a 25 day cycle, or up to 3 days early for a 29 day cycle. I just started temping this month when I got my bfp, so I’m not really sure how many dpo my period normally comes. I’m 16 dpo now and my lines are darker, but they still aren’t as dark as the control line. If I hadn’t been taking my BBT this month, I probably wouldn’t have thought to test until today at the earliest, because I am almost never this late.

A faint second line is a positive test.

And to answer your question, I got my positive the day my period was expected.

sarahfaye :  I see a very faint line, but you’ll definitely have to wait and see.

If this isn’t it for you, I highy recommend you read “Taking Charge of Your Fertility”. Even if you don’t end up charting, etc, the insight in to what your body is doing each month will really help you understand the process and the signs of both ovulation and pregnancy.

Wait, you took tests 5 days apart and they looked identically weak? That seems super strange to me. Do you have a OB you can call and get a blood test with? It could be that you’re getting evap lines instead or that you’re soon going to have a CP, but I think low HCG levels can also be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy? I’m not 100% on that, but if I were in your shoes, I’d go into to get some better data.

I wasn’t late at all. I got a second line on an internet cheapie ([email protected]) 8 days before I expected my period. I have a long luteal phase though, I knew when I ovulated, and suspected I implanted early.
If you aren’t tracking ovulation (temps, cervical fluid; opks only tell you if you may ovulate withn 48 hours, it doesn’t confirm ovulation) then you can’t know when to expect your period, you can only guess.
Best of luck and I hope your line is more definite soon!

I got my BFP (not even a squinter) the day before my period was expected, but I have a long luteal phase (16 days). How did your next testing go? Did you have a blood test?

I got a faint positive the day my period was due. It got darker and darker. Stopped testing once the test line was darker than the control. I’m 5w5d now 🙂 Like others said, your test is positive, maybe test again in a couple days to see if it’s darker 🙂

sarahfaye :  if you’re this late and BFN it means you didn’t ovulate when you think you did (you either ovulated late or not at all) OR you are experiencing a chemical pregnancy. Unfortunately without a bbt chart or a for sure positive pregnancy test you’ll never know. FX AF comes for you soon so you can try again next cycle

sarahfaye :  I’m sorry you’re going through this frustration. 🙁 I just had the same experience in my last cycle and it was absolutely maddening! I’m FX for you that you get an answer one way or the other soon and can move past this limbo.

sarahfaye :  I’m sorry, but I think you’ve had a chemical pregnancy. The test you posted was faint, but obviously positive. HCG levels are supposed to double every ~48 hours with a healthy pregnancy. Which means the line should be twice as dark 2 days after a faint positive. The fact that you got a positive and now are getting negitives most likely means that your HCG is decreasing. I’ve had 2 chemical pregnancies. I ended up being 2-3 weeks late for AF both times. It takes time for your body to readjust after. The good news is that you don’t have to wait cycles after a CP to TTC again (if you actively were). On my second (healthy) pregnancy, I got my BFP for it on the cycle immidiately following a CP. Hope you get your answers soon.

I would stick with one test type- FRERs. Then you’re at least comparing apples to apples.

ETA: if you didn’t see any progress, then I’d be worried. Hope it all clears up soon!
