@Waterfall: I’m still waiting but it’s definitely happening this year and I got my promise ring a little over 3.5 years ago. It sounds like your Fiance just might not be ready yet (and since he’s only 20 that seems perfectly justified).

I know how you are feeling. I just turned 27 and my SO is 24. we had a talk and I had to explain to him every detail of why I would like to be married sooner rather than later. I never nagged him about it though. He really took it to heart and saw where I was coming from, he finally understood me!

he wanted to have everything set in life, he had a whole list. i thought it was crazy. we would never get married if we waited for that list to be complete.

This was about 6 months ago. I’m still waiting, but it should happen soon because he’s helping plan the wedding already, and we picked a wedding date month and year!

Be patient, you are very young, If you know 100% he’s the one, it shouldn’t matter when it happens, just yet.

Think about it this way though. He says 25 is the magic number. He’s 20 right now. 5 years is 1/4 of his entire life up to now. So it makes sense he doesn’t get how fast time flies. I totally get how you’re feeling…I mean 3 years is nothing to sneeze at, but I understand why someone so young might not feel ready to make such a drastic life change just yet. And by your logic, time flies…so waiting another two or 3 years shouldn’t be too difficult. Honestly I was convinced that SO would propose at the 3 year mark, but based on where we were (in life) at the time, I’m kind of glad he didn’t. Now I’ve graduated and he has a full time job and I think we’re much more ready for the next step now than we would’ve been then. I totally feel you though.
