Good morning Ladies,
I had my egg retrieval on August 22nd, and saw my specialist last week. She does not seem to think my cycle will return yet. I was on Puregon, Orgalutran (Ganirelix) and triggered with Decapeptyl (Triptorelin).
I am considered anovulatory, but I’ve had a boost for the past 4-5 months with ovulation medication, and shorter cycles (less than 28 days, sometimes as short as 18 days).
Does it sometimes take a long time for a cycle to return after egg retrieval? Several nurses at my clinic told me I could expect my period two weeks after the trigger shot. My period was August 28th but my specialist says that it doesn’t count because it was the meds leaving my body. Another doctor did my retrieval so I guess I may have misunderstood about future periods.
My IVF cycle ended up being a freeze all so I have to wait at least 2 cycles to transfer.
Thank you for any clarification, have a great day! 🙂

my first ivf cycle was a freeze all due to my estrogen level getting too high 2 days before transfer. i got my period on the 9th day after retreival, which was the 25th day of my cycle. this was a normal cycle length for me.
i did another fresh cycle after that, so i had to an off cycle, then 18 days on bcp, then i could start the next ivf cycle again.

ajillity81 : Thank you for sharing your experiences. Mine was a freeze all for the same reason, and they were very concerned about OHSS.
For me, the waiting is difficult because it feels like such a long road overall. I need to be more patient.
Congratulations on your little one! 😀

weightwatchers152 : Mine’s a freeze all out of choice. When I asked my doctor yesterday about when we could put the embryos back in, he mentioned that my cycle should start again in about 12 – 14 days and then he can start me on the other meds.
