My Fiance and I would like to start a family almost right away after we get married, so I was wondering what were some of your experiences. Do you wish you’d have waited a little longer or do you think you waited to long?

I think it depends on a lot of factors. For us, we waited 9 months, but we are both older and have a lot of experiences in our lives as individuals and together. We decided we were ready to TTC because we starting having a desire for experiences with children. Exoctic vacations still seemed exciting, but not as exciting as taking a child on a small vacation and seeing them experience something for the first time. Also, we want 2 children, and because of our age, we have to start in order to fit that in. If we only wanted one, we may wait a while. There are so many factors that go into to trying to TTC, that it is so different and individual for every couple.

We waited about 6 months, but we both really want kids and both shared a dream of starting a family soon. (We are also financially stable.) We were going to wait two years originally, then one, then 6 months. It worked out great for us and we have a beautiful baby boy now, but I think it’s a really personal decision.

We didn’t wait and I got pregnant on my honeymoon haha. I’m due in early June and very happy with our decision. We didn’t know if it would take us a while to actually get pregnant and didn’t want to wait too long only to find out let’s say that it would take us a year to get pregnant. We got surprised that it worked the first time!

- Wedding: November 2013 - St. Augustine Beach, FL
We have agreed to wait to TTC until after our first anniversary but we had a long engagement and the closer we get to the wedding the more our discussions get around to TTC sooner than our first anniversary. I just don’t want to be super pregnant during the summer if I can avoid it since we live in Florida so ideally I would like to start TTC early summer next year. We both know our stuff works due to previous pregnancies so we don’t expect to be TTC very long before a BFP.

We had a whoops and got pregnant on our honeymoon (about 3 days in). In a perfect world, we would have liked to wait a little longer, maybe six months, but that’s not the way it happened!

We were trying before we got married but then stopped for seven months before the wedding day. We waited about 7 hours after the ceremony to start trying again.

We started TTC this month, the wedding is in August. I’m 38 and Fiance is 37 so we wanted to get started as quickly as possible

We were going to start ttc right after our one year anniversary, but I found out I’m pregnant in March. While this is a really big surprise and I wish we had a little more time alone together as newlyweds, I know this is a blessing and we are looking forward to welcoming our LO.

We really enjoyed our first year of marriage. We made it “The Year of Fun.” We did so much amazing stuff (ziplining, Euro trip, stayed overnight in a haunted former penitentiary, rafting, wineries galore…), and we’re so happy we did. We weren’t trying, but I became pregnant at 1 year and 3 months. There is still a lot we wanted to do, but at least we had a whole year just to be married. (we’ve been together for 7 years)

We don’t have an exact ‘timeline’ right now. I’m getting the implanon (probably) next month, so we’ll be either waiting until our first anniversary (and removing implanon) or waiting the 3 years the implanon stays in.

We’ve been married almost 2 years and are still not TTC. I’m 25 and Darling Husband is 30. We may start trying in the next 2-3 years or so, but no rush–we are enjoying being DINK (dual income, no kids) and having the time and money to spend on ourselves!

We waited 1.5 years after being married to TTC and got pregnant right away! We’ve been together since we were 18 though and have travelled all over the world already, so we felt ready. We’re both 29.

We waited until after our honeymoon, which was 6 month after our wedding. I am on the second cycle of trying, so here’s hoping for 2014! It is a perfect amount of time for us. We had already been together for 9 years.

We wanted a honeymoon baby, but Darling Husband got laid off a few weeks before the wedding. I stopped BC a week after the wedding when my Rx ran out and right now we’re just waiting for him to get a job and pretty sure we will conceive a child the second he gets an offer!
