anonymousbee88:  He asked them at the end of May and proposed this past week in July. It wasn’t too bad.

anonymousbee88:  3 days.. he spoke to my dad last Thursday and proposed on Sunday.  I told him when the time came for him to ask permission doing it as close to the proposal as possible as I thought my dad would tell me or start acting weird!

He talked to my Dad in late July, and didn’t propose until the middle of September. I’m sure he would have done it sooner, but the ring took a while to arrive, and then had to be sized and everything.

The waiting part of it didn’t bother me, it was the fact that my Dad couldn’t keep it to himself! I guess it’s a good thing that he was excited, but he told multiple family members, and it was super confusing, because he told them we were engaged, but we weren’t yet. I was getting a lot of congratulations, questions about the wedding, requests for pictures of the ring, and I didn’t even have the ring yet! My Dad even made me call my Grandma and tell her that we were going to get engaged, because he didn’t want to steal my thunder. So yeah, there’s me on the phone with my Grandma saying “Mr. Luckyshot has asked my Dad for my hand in marriage, so I guess we’re going to get engaged soon”, talk about awkward!

anonymousbee88:  Mine had the ring for about a month before talking to my Dad (we live 10 hours away) and proposed about a week and half later πŸ™‚

The proposal was about 6 weeks after he talked with my dad. It was a busy time in our lives, and I still had to meet his dad.

Almost two years. I don’t think he realized that one is supposed to follow the other fairly promptly! He talked to them in November of 2008 and FINALLY proposed in September of 2010. How my mother lasted that long without telling me, I’ll never know.

My Fiance took my dad ring shopping with him so about a month. Once the ring arrived though he only had it for about 6 hours before he proposed 😍

No idea.

I would have killed him if he had, my parents would have thought he was bonkers and the thought would have never crossed his mind.

But how exciting πŸ™‚

Almost three weeks and counting, haha.  He bought the ring about a month ago (I knew that already- I picked my ring out) and I overheard him talking to my mother when she came to visit three weeks ago.

I don’t know if he’s asked my father (my parents are still married- my mother just came for a mother-daughter visit), but that doesn’t really matter since my parents love my boyfriend.
