About a week. He asked my parents when they came to visit while they were helping us stain our deck (I took the dog for a walk at that time) and they left Tuesday and he proposed Saturday!
This thread is interesting. I wonder how many people follow this tradition (we aren’t, but I think its sweet).
Six months! we had been dating for seven and he had told me very early on that he would propose after a year. He did wait one more month to recover financially from a layoff. He’s a man of his word!
Well, I don’t have parents in my life but he did speak to my two sons when all three of them went out for an afternoon of fishing. I found out about it after the proposal. Probably a month or so My youngest said keeping the secret was one of the hardest things he’s had to do in a long time!
Two days. He went to see my mom and told all of our family member and friends. He waited to get the ring until he was ready to give it to me right away.
2 months! I think he waited until he had enough money saved up to buy the ring because he needed my mom to go with him to the jewelery. So once he got my parents’ blessing, they went to the jeweler and then he waited until we went on vacation to ask 🙂
He spoke to them in early November, the night before Christmas Eve we were engaged 🙂
Any updates, OP?!
mine didn’t talk to my parents, because that’s a tradition that makes me kind of uncomfortable. My Dad has known not to expect it since I was a young teen!
