@Moonlight_Densetsu:  I’ve seen it happen to both sexes. One lady I know she lived a guy for years and was engaged for years. I think they had been together for 8 years. The guy wanted to get married, and the girl just kept pushing it off. He’d sneak wedding magazines in the house trying to get her to start planning, but she was happy as is. He went and saw a counselor for some reason, and the next week he kicked her out of his house. I guess the counselor pretty much told him to think about what was good for himself, and he decided it was moving on. So now she’s in her late 30s and moved back into her parents’ house having to save to start all over again. I’ve seen similar things happen to where the guy doesn’t want the wedding either. One friend bought a house with a guy before marriage. They broke up, and she moved out. The guy never made payments and she never did anything about her name being on the house (I don’t think she had the money to do anything about it), and the house foreclosed. Now she has bad credit.

I know some people will disagree, but I do consider it playing house. You never know if the person you’re living with will ever want to move to the next stage or be content as is. It does cause a lot of issues if things go sour. I guess if you live in states with common law marriages, you’re sort of fine.

We actually lived together before we started dating (kind of a long story). We’ve never lived apart since dating. Our 3 year anniversary is this week. He told me I’d be getting a ring “December at the latest.” So if I don’t get it till then, it will be 3.5 years of dating and living together. haha.

We met in May 2009, moved in together May 2010 and got engaged August 2011. So a little over a year. We’d been discussing marriage long before the engagement though – we initially planned on eloping without an engagement but changed our minds!

My husband (Eek!  First time typing that ๐Ÿ™‚ and I started dating at 19, and we were together for a little over 3 years in college before moving in together after graduating.  After moving in together he proposed after 5 years of living together.

We started dating November of 2011 and moved in together March 2013. We discussed getting engaged in October of 2012 and decided on a timeline for that before moving in. We will be announcing our engagement this Christmas.

I have too many friends who have moved in with their boyfriends (later in life, not young) without discussing this at all or what the step means and most of them have been sorely disappointed.

We met our senior year in high school. We dated for 3 years before moving in together. He proposed 1 1/2 years after living together (which was about 10 months ago).

We moved intogether when I was 20 and he was 21.

We weren’t together at the time just FWB and old old friends (we have known each other since we were 6). we got together proper soon after.

I’m 27 now. We agreed and started to plan the wedding about a year ago so lived together for 6 years before but properly together about 5 ish maybe

I moved in with my Fiance after a little more than 2 years of dating. He proposed after about 6 months of living together (I had been dropping not-so-subtle hints for months before moving in together, but I honestly thought it would be a LOT longer before he proposed). We’re getting married this weekend, after 3 years of dating and exactly one year of living together!

Dated for 2 years before I moved in (although I was essentially living with him for almost a year and a half prior to that). We got engaged 10 months later. I am in my late 20s and he’s in his early 30s – you have plenty of time ๐Ÿ™‚

One week maybe the second week…We moved in together the day we met.

We got married 2 years later we wanted to get married about six months after we met but things got in the way…

We are renewing our vows in February. We’ve been married for three years. By then we’ll have been together for 5.

We’d been dating for just shy of two years when we moved in together (dating anniversary is in November, moved in together in late August) and he proposed 7 months later.
