@SSLM:  I don’t have a good answer to the question but I thought it might be helpful to share my experience. I used OPKs for 10 days before I got a positive and then when I test again later in the day (I was using them twice a day) it was negative and again negative the next day. So I got a positive mid morning with a negative the night before and a negative the same night. So I’m not sure how accurate they really are. We also got our BFP that month.

It really depends on the situation. Its possible that you just missed your surge, like you think, OR your pee might just have been diluted/at the wrong time, and the OPK didn’t pick anything up. I know personally, I have a fade in and fade out on OPKs, so it wouldn’t be stark white if I had ovulated that day. But everyone’s experiences are a little different.

Once I saw a negative test, I knew for sure that my temp rise was coming, most likely the next morning.

I normally have a fade in & fade out, but the only time i managed to get a positive on a digital, I retested the following day 24 hrs later with another digi and that had already turned negative, so yes I think its definitely possible for them to turn negative in a day.
