We set the date the night we got engaged, but we ended up changing it a few weeks later.

We knew we wanted fall 2011 even before we were engaged but we decided on the exact date when we met with our venue which was around a month later.

He proposed in October and we didn’t pick a date until late January.

I knew the night or day after he proposed.  I was so excited.

I wasn’t going to be back in the country for a over a year when Fiance proposed (I was living in Paris when he proposed and have lived in Australia since a few weeks after we became engaged) so we chose a date and booked the venue before he ever proposed

We would have gladly set a date immediately, but immigration makes everything interesting.  lol  We had to wait until we had the fiance visa approved and in our hands to set the date.   (well ok, we could have bitten the bullet and set the date anytime we wanted, but there were no guarantees that we’d have the visa in time to actually use that date)  So he proposed in Sept 2009 and we set the date in March 2010.

We knew we wanted a fall wedding even before we were engaged. We basically chose our date around UT football & our date is the BYE weekend.. Our venue was about $1000 cheaper for a Sunday wedding which is why we chose the Sunday date instead of Saturday.

eta: We had the date picked with in the first few weeks after getting engaged & by the next month I was looking at venues.

That’s a funny question because the moment we got engaged (and it was a complete surprise to me even though we’d been together 8 years) EVERYONE asked “when is the date?!”…I was like um, people, we just got engaged I have no idea!! I didn’t understand how people could ask me that as I was sharing our engagement news.  Now I realize that many people do talk about this beforehand, but anyway, we didn’t set a date until we started looking at venues – we had the “summer” picked out shortly after the engagement but didn’t set an exact date until about 3 months later.

We figured out the exact date several months before he proposed- maybe even a year. We knew we wanted Summer 2011 and my schedule allowed for two possible weekends.

We knew we’d be getting married in May, and I wanted either the 14th or the 21st.  We met with the venue 2 weeks later (another thing we knew already), and the 14th was open but not the 21st.  However, his brother and best man are both graduating from college the 14th.  So we made it the 22nd!

We are still setting a date… but we know approximately what we hope for. The reason is that we are planning a backyard wedding in our new home…. in a home we are yet to own (and should May-ish)…. so it’s sorta hard to plan a lot for. Can I tell you how ready I am to have a darn date!?! And a darn home with a large luscious backyard!?!?

We got engaged about 3 weeks ago and people started asking us for a date immediately!  I thought it was kinda crazy to expect a date the day after he proposed, LoL.  We’ve narrowed it down to Oct 6 or Oct 20 of 2012.  We’ll probably choose one or the other by the end of this month.  :o)
