I only took just a couple weeks to relax. I bought my dress the month after we were engaged. We booked venues soon after that. We’re having a 14 month engagement, so after we checked the bigger items on our list we’ve had plenty of time to still relax.

We started planning before we were officially engaged ๐Ÿ™‚ looking at venues and pricing, that kind of thing. Didn’t book anything or go dress shopping until after we were engaged. So I guess in reality, I did research before and planning after ๐Ÿ™‚

@Penelopeee:  kinda right away on line looking at dresses and picking my bridal party i kinda wish i would have waited a lil bit but i got some direction and great ideas and the vision of my wedding changed over time i went from winter wonderland to just wanting a more clean, classic, elegant romantic vibe ; )

We got engaged in March and then I got my dress in May and from there we started to look at venues and plan. We’re having a 16 month engagement, so that gave us a couple of months to rest and just enjoy being engaged.

We started talking about dates within a week after the engagement. I was clear before we got engaged that I didn’t want a super long engagement.

We were looking at either April or October – I knew if we picked April, I needed to get going. If we picked October, then I could chill for a bit. We decided we preferred April, so I got started pretty seriously within 2 weeks of the engagement. I’m glad – it has been fun!

We had a date, venue, photographer before we were “officially” engaged (meaning with a ring to him)….so yeah, no waiting around for me.

Oh, keep in mind a lot of things have already been booking up for next year.  So if you are wanting to do it next year I wouldn’t wait if I were you!

We took about a month to just enjoy, then took venue tours at the beginning of December, and no more official wedding planning until February, when we booked our venue. Since then it’s been go go go.

My fiancee had his guest list ready within 24 hours of proposing. He also wanted to know when I would have mine ready, he even offered to send me the same format he used so that it would be easier when we merged them later.

We waited about a year to make any solid plans.  We talked about different ideas and all, but nothing booked or set in stone for quite some time.

We also had a 2 year engagement, so we just sort of enjoyed being together and being engaged without the pressures of planning a massive event.  It was divine ๐Ÿ™‚

Once we booked the venue and a few other major vendors, we sort of took another long break from planning.  We do tend to procrastinate!
