We got engaged 28th of December last year and have done no planning as yet, with no plans anytime soon it seems.  The closest I have come to planning anything has been to join weddingbee!

I got engaged in the beginning of the summer, so I spent the majority of the summer planning my wedding. But then my last semester of graduate school started in September, so wedding stuff is on hold until the end of December! But in January, I’ll be back in full force!

Plus, I got the venue/food! Which was the most important to me. 😀

Days. We wanted to get married the following fall (got engaged in September) and I knew we had to start soon to get the vendors we wanted. He didnt understand the rush until the first venue checked their calendar… completely booked up for the whole month of Oct and booking Oct of 2014.

Within a few hours. LOL In our defense, we had already developed our general vision and  tentative guest list, and we had already browsed venues online, so we had done some legwork ahead of time. And we had only 3 months to do the big stuff before we were switching over to house hunting. So I wanted to be on the ball and knock stuff out quickly.

We got engaged in May and I started planning in August, lol. I wish I started sooner, but we still have plenty of time.

Haha honestly, we started planning before we even got engaged!!! We had a date picked and the bridal party all decided before he asked. 🙂

I’ve sort of nosed around places in the 6 weeks since we got engaged. We’ve done no actual planning, but we’ve gathered ideas and got our thoughts in order to streamline for when we start. We probably won’t really get a good start until after Christmas, because we’re so busy before then anyway!

That said, I am going to look at dresses next weekend, but that’s more of an excuse for a girly weekend with my Ma, aunt and cousins than anything else.

Wedding planning freaked me out at first. I definitely was not someone who even thought about it before getting engaged and while I was excited to get married I was a bit overwhelmed by the whole wedding thing. I bought a few magazines early on but we got properly started on planning after 3-4 months. We got engaged in October 2010, wanted a summer wedding and didn’t want to plan in under a year (or combine it with the cross-country move we had planned for summer 2011) so we werent in a rush to get started.

Honestly we started coming up with ideas almost immediately, we aren’t going to book anything until at the earliest July next year though.

I had been browsing thing for about 2 months before he proposed, so I had an idea of what I wanted. We got engaged this past Saturday and we already have the date set and the venue! We’re both so excited it’s just hard to wait!

We spent about 2 months just enjoying being engaged.  I started collecting some ideas during that time, but serious research and visits didn’t come until abut 2 months in.  Worked out well for us.

Hmmm….40 hours.

Yeah it’s a bit sad hehe.

We’re getting the big stuff out of the way – church, dress, reception, draft guest list.

Nothing is concrete yet except for the date but we have started looking.

Everything will probably come to a standstill over christmas though and again in Feb because we’re going on holiday.
