We didnt set the date for 2 months because we wanted to know what the venue had open. The venue made us change the date 2 months after that tho 🙁

I think it was the next day. Fiance proposed in Paris at night, the next day we were eating in a café, and he asked if I had thought of a date yet. I told him I didn’t yet, but he mentioned that the day we met was going to be on a Saturday in 2010.. so we chose it!

We didn’t pick a date untill a year after we were engaged….When he asked me I was still in college and I wanted to be out by the time we got married. So we waited.

We did within two or three weeks but people started asking right away so we gave them a vague idea….we’re shooting for fall but if that doesn’t work out then spring.  It seemed to be a good way to keep the conversation going, people weren’t really looking for specifics just general ideas you are thinking of.

We got engaged in June 2009…we started looking at venues about a week after that, lol. We found the venue we wanted pretty quickly–mid/late July, but didn’t actually put down a deposit for the date til late August I think. So about two months after we got engaged.

It really depends on you. If you have a magical date in mind or it you what to pick the location a venue. I picked a date and changed it because it fell in the middle of the week. You can take your time to be honest, just tell the family it hasn’t been determined yet.

Fiance and I are at nearly three months and counting with no set date in sight. At first I was concerned, but we have settled on an immediate family only destination wedding, with an “at-home” reception (maybe two depending on geography and size of guest list). So we have to choose a destination before we can commit to a date. My fiance proposed two years to the day after our first date, so March 19th is pretty special in our book, and it happens to fall on a Saturday in 2011, so we’ll see what we can do….

We decided on a date before we’re even engaged.

We knew we didn’t want to get married right after my graduation (I am not a winter bride- I HATE the cold) or the summer after my first semester of grad school (I am never moving by myself again), so that leaves next summer. I need at least 6 weeks at the beginning for field school, and he wants a two week honeymoon. I want to be in town for several days before the wedding so that left two weekend possibilities. We decided we liked the 30th the best since it left plenty of room for the honeymoon and a couple cushion days before my last season of marching.

The venue was easy once we decided to have it in Texas (our officiant can only perform a legal cermony there) as we go there reguarly and is central for a lot of the Texan guests.
