Sorry if this is in the wrong spot!
Just curious to know how long after you got engaged did it take for you to nail down a date?
We just got engaged on July 30th and we haven’t really discussed anything yet date wise, which I’m fine with but I have checked in already with a couple of venues and my favorite photogs since they are all booking up for 2017. I don’t want to rush into making any decisions just because we know we want to get married in 2017, but I certainly don’t want to miss out on a great venue or vendors because we were too slow to the punch.

About a month. We knew we wanted a two-year engagement, and then it was just a matter of checking schedules and picking the season.

We waited a few months. I just wanted to soak up being engaged for a little bit. The vendors and venues will be around, and it will work out! Once you set a date, you’ll never stop hearing that clock ticking in your head!!!

3 days. We had to snag our location over a year and a half in advance!

He proposed on December 27th, we figured out the venue in the next two weeks, and picked one of the few remaining spring dates available. We were married May 28th. 🙂
We would have gone crazy if it took any longer, we were ready to be married and the planning to be over with! Totally worth it. 🙂

We decided to get married in June pretty much straight after we got engaged & selected the date about 3 weeks later when we saw our venue. I think the whole process would’ve lasted longer but it turned out that Fiance had thought about a May/June wedding before we even became engaged!

We didn’t wait too long, just a few days. We had a general idea to start with – we knew we wanted to get married in the fall of the same year we were engaged (engaged in Jan, got married that Sep). We switched the exact date around maybe once due to changing venues/location (from beach to a garden).

We decided the very next day! We knew we wanted a fall wedding, but are HUGE Georgia Bulldog fans, so we didn’t want it to be on a day Georgia was playing…sounds ridiculous, but you’d just have to know our family. EVERYTHING is scheduled around football! So we looked up Georgia’s schedule, found the off-week and voila! It’s pretty comical explaining to people that that’s why we picked that date. 🙂

We knew we wanted to get married sometime in the summer, regardless of when we were engaged, because most of our friends are in getting their masters’ degrees or have kids and we didn’t want them to have to work around their schedules. It’s not a bad idea to take into consideration the availlability of guests. Also, the month we chose happens to be the cheapest time of the year to travel to where we will be having the wedding.

We knew the season the same day. We chose the actual date after looking at venues and seeing how quickly they were booking-we chose our date about 3 weeks after getting engaged!

We knew right away was season. We got our actual date within a few weeks (after we toured venues).

About a month. We got engaged on Christmas Eve 2014 and knew we wanted a fall wedding. We didn’t want a long engagement so we started checking out venues immediately and booked one we fell in love with for the next October 2015.

A few days. We knew we needed it to be in the summer because Darling Husband is a teacher, and we knew it had to be early in the summer becsuse we wanted an outdoor wedding so July/August would have been too hot. His last day of school for the year was June 3, so we got married on the 5th.
