I have been married almost 9 months, and I have not changed my name. I don’t know if I want to. Love my husband, but my name is MY name.

I’ve been married since February and I just got my marriage certificate back in the mail the other day, so I’m just now able to change my name on my IDs. I’ve been using my new name socially since we got married though.

I planned an extra day off after our mini-moon to drive around and change it at the SS office, and DMV.

I’m having mine hypenated, so I get to keep my old name and just add his on. I’m sure it will be a pain, but it was the only choice I felt that I had. oh well. I’m just going to do it right after the wedding and get it over with.

with in a month, only because it was coming up on the 1 year time limit to update my passport without having to pay a fee.

I did ASAP.  I was on summer break (teacher) and had the time.

Is there a deadline to change? If you get married uncertain about changing it, at any point in your marriage (obviously with a copy of your marriage license) go about changing it?

i changed mine the week after we got back from our honeymoon, so it was less than a month after the wedding. i just wanted to get it all taken care of as soon as possible

I’ve been married 6 months and haven’t changed mine yet.  I’m not excited about doing it, but didn’t wait this long on purpose.  We recently bought a house and moved…..have no idea where the certificate is Frown.  Blaming the hubbie for moving things around all Rambo style.

I didn’t start my name change process until a year and a half after we were married, the push finally came when I was in my second trimester!

My two year anniversary is coming up and I still have my own name. No plans on changing it. I just like my last name and don’t see a point of changing it.

I changed my name 10 days after the wedding.  I changed it before my honeyoon but still traveled under my maiden name by keeping my passport the same.

I changed my name, on my SS card, two days after the wedding.Changed the DL on my 30th birthday. I am just now being able to change my name at work. I couldn’t get a hold of the correct people. After it is officially changed at work I will change it at my bank and on my med insurance.

I legally changed mine, but I haven’t gotten my SS card or drivers license changed.  And I’m still using my maiden name at work.

I told DH I have to have a gold ring and a honeymoon before I changed my name.  Not that there’s anything wrong with silver rings, but my silver ring keeps getting bent out of shape.

We just got back from our honeymoon and I am planning on (hopefully) getting everything done next week. I have all of the forms filled out, I just need to go to the respective offices and the post office. If all goes to plan, it will be within two months of getting married.

Side note: Although on my wedding license I am legally changed to my new married name, it was very depressing to be called “Miss Maiden Name” all during the honeymoon, seeing how we had to make all of the arrangements in my maiden name (passport/driver’s license hadn’t yet been changed). 🙁

I legally changed mine about 2 months after we got married – I was waiting for the official copy of our marriage certificate. I’ve taken care of the important stuff – SSN, DMV & employer. I’ve been draggin my feet on the other stuff – passport, credit cards, bank. I’ll get around to it one of these days….my wallet is so schizo right now!
