MissKota1419: We started before he proposed. We knew we’d be getting married, we found a date that worked for overseas family so we had our date – we selected our venue around the date (in February, so nothing was already booked.) It was about 17 months before the wedding, and he proposed officially with a ring 15 months before our date. We didn’t start actually booking and signing until a year before (but I’d been checking things out online.)

We got engaged in February and pretty much booked our venues and wedding planner immediately (so 16 months before the wedding). We’ve been planning pretty steadily since then as I like to be organised and really don’t want to leave everything until the last minute

MissKota1419: we got engaged Nov 2011, and set a date for Sept 2013. I had booked the venue Dec of 2011 (where I live, things get booked pretty quickly).
Photographer/Videographer & DJ I booked early on in 2012.
Florist I booked late 2012.
Dress was purchased Feb 2012 and took a year to come in
Invitations were ordered April 2013
Favors ordered June 2013
Veil and shoes purchased sometime in 2013

MissKota1419: My Fiance and I are such planners that we actually picked our wedding date in December 2012! LOL! We decided we wanted to get married on our anniversary and it fell on a Saturday in 2015 so it was just that simple! He also asked me then what sort of e-ring would I like so he got on the case of planning the e-ring and proposal (which he wanted to keep secret until he popped the question) and I got started wedding planning! Picked colors, location, flowers, photographer, invites, all little by little as I came across things and thankfully all with FI’s input! (Except the dress). He popped the question V-day 2014 and by May of 2014 I had already picked my dress, venue, photog, invites printed and shipped, shoes, earrings, hair stylist, centerpieces, broom, and begun work on a wedding website! I just LOVED being so ahead of the game and because I was planning without really anyone but my mom and best friend knowing, I was able to plan things just as I wanted them without a lot of unsolicited advice and opinions from others. Now that we are officially engaged to the world, everyone wants to know how is wedding planning coming and I cheerfully say, “Aside from a few minor details, it’s DONE!” Now I can just sit back, finalize the guest list and let the clock tick by. I had the realization today that I will be really happy once it is over though so that Fiance and I can go back to saving to SAVE and not saving for this event. My pockets and bank account will breath a huge sigh of relief after this is all said and done.

We aren’t even officially engaged yet, he stilhas to propose. But we picked our wedding day back in January, lol so I’ve been saving and planning already and our wedding is June 2016. We are paying for it all ourselves and I’m doing tons of DIY. I refuse to be super stresided out with planning during the engagement so I’m giving myself as much time as possible to get money and projects done. We already know which venue we want as well. But we won’t book any vendors until after he proposes.

We got engaged about a month ago, and decided on a venue yesterday, for October 2015. I really wanted a fall wedding, so, lots of time.

We got engaged September 2013 and started planning March 2014. We’re about a year away and I’ve got pretty much everything booked except I still need to pick out bridesmaid dresses and grooms tuxes. Don’t worry you still have plenty of time. My Future Sister-In-Law is getting married a month before you and she just booked the hall.
